Joe Rogan: It’s Almost Disrespectful to call Jiu Jitsu Match A fight

Joe Rogan: It's Almost Disrespectful to call Jiu Jitsu Match A fight

Joe Rogan does not think that Jiu Jitsu match is really a fighting. But he also have nothing against to call Jiu Jitsu match a fight. Here is his explanation on this from his latest podcast interview with Tom Papa.

“Jiu-jitsu is not fighting because you’re not hitting each other. So, you’ve got a jiu-jitsu match for sure. Not really a fight because you can’t get leg kicked, you can’t get elbowed in the face, you’re not going to get kneed into a coma. It’s a totally different experience than a fight, and it’s almost disrespectful, in some ways, to call a Jiu-Jitsu match a fight. But other people like to refer to it as a fight. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

What’s your opinion on this subject? Match or fight?

BJJ Black Belt Chases Down Suspect in front of his Academy

Dan Camarillo is a second degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and 4th degree black belt in Judo. He ran his academy at Bakersfield, CA and his academy is well known for producing champions. And it’s not the best spot to be spotted if you’re a suspect.

On Wednesday Night on May 19, 2016 he heard some crashing noise in front of his academy, he went out to investigate what happened and witnesses told him the suspect had slammed into a truck, and was running away. Dan Camarillo decided to chase him down.

Camarillo told local ABC affiliate News 23:

“I decided to chase him down, He ran out of gas at the corner of the block, I put him in a hold but he started kind of resisting.”

“I grabbed him here and hold this arm tight, and he started to say, no no no.”

“He rolled and I put my weight on him, and i just sat on him pulling his arm tight,” said Camarillio.”

This guy was lucky he wasn’t chased by some expert in some striking martial art as this would end up much worse the suspect. This way no one was harmed.

Camarillo offered some wise words about martial arts.

“I always tell everybody you never know when your going to need it”

Daniel Cormier: Show Compassion for Jon Jones

Daniel Cormier: Show Compassion for Jon Jones

Daniel Cormier is reinstated as light heavyweight champion due to Jone’ failed drug test on B sample. And we can see that after their second fight where Jon Jones showed empathy for Cormier in one the best after fight speeches in the history of sport DC is also ready to bury a hatchet. He asks fans to lay off from Jon Jones.

“Life can be such a roller coaster. I think sometimes you have to just take a moment and breathe it in. You never know what’s gonna come your way. You try and handle it the best way you can,” Cormier wrote on Instagram. “One thing that has been amazing is the support from you the fans. I have never felt so much love. It’s crazy because this all happened when I lost. Guys now I call upon you to take a breath, lay off of Jones. Let him and his team figure out what’s going on and what happened.”

“I was down and some may have kicked me but the majority of you showed compassion and love. After the fight Jones showed compassion, regardless of what has happened as humans we must show compassion,” Cormier wrote. “Jon is not on this ride alone, remember this man has a family. Let’s respect that. You don’t show [your] support for me by hurting others. Again I thank you for [your] unbelievable support and I trust that you guys will come [through] again.”

Big words from a big man! Nice one DC!

How to fight against a “Dead Guard”?

Guy playing dead guard on tournament

I must say this is some very innovative type of Jiu Jitsu gameplay. People around call it a “dead guard”, but as we can see guy laying like he’s dead is very alive after he gets attacked by his opponent.

So, does anyone have any idea on what’s the best way to attack this type of “guard”?

Rickson Gracie: Modern BJJ Black Belts Remind Me of Karate Practitioners Clueless of Jiu-Jitsu

Rickson Gracies opinion on todays black belts

Rickson Gracie’s opinion on modern Jiu-Jitsu:

“In the past, when we arrived in the US, we were teaching Jiu-Jitsu to Karate black belts, who at the time felt like they knew everything. When they got exposed to real Jiu-Jitsu, they would say that they lost 20 years of their lives doing Karate, and now they realized what the real thing is. So somehow when I go to a (BJJ) seminar these days, I get the same impression from Jiu-Jitsu black belts. They’re like “Wow, I never taught that this existed in Jiu-Jitsu”. If we don’t do something very soon, Jiu-Jitsu will lose its fight identity.”

Do you agree with Rickson on this? Or you think his teaching and his views don’t fit with your goals and what you’re trying to do with your BJJ? And should Martial arts and grappling martial arts be focused on self-defense as many people think of martial arts as mainly self-defense art and sport after that?

Rolles Gracie Jr. (born July 14, 1978) is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist, pro-wrestler and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. As the son of Rolls Gracie, he is a third generation martial arts member of the Gracie family, and a 4th degree black belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

This time he fought against a very tough opponent and 5 times world strongest man on earth Mariusz Pudzianowski, on KSW 31 event.

This event took place on May 23, 2015 in Gdansk, Poland and lasted only 27 seconds.

After a few circles around Gracie, Pudzianowski trapped Gracie’s lead hand and leaped into an overhand right. The punch landed with an audible thud and immediately left Gracie in a heap. After a bit of follow-up ground-and-pound from Pudzianowski, the fight was over.

BJJ Purple Belt vs Large Boxer in an MMA fight!

BJJ Purple Belt vs Large Boxer in MMA fight!

When it comes to defeating larger opponents it’s easy to figure out that not all martial arts are the same. Jiu Jitsu is one of those that gives you all advantage you can have against someone much bigger then you are.

If someone is untrained at takedown defense and staying on their feet it’s very likely they will end up on the ground. That’s exactly what happened in this fight.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an excellent martial art to defeat bigger and larger opponents using technique and leverage and not brute force.

BJJ vs Boxing Street Fight! Which Style is Better?

Fake Hand Shake to Submission!

Fake Shake Hand in brazilian Jiu Jitsu to imanari roll to submission

This is something we can’t see in Jiu-Jitsu “every day”. Fortunately, we can’t see stuff like this at all. We can see some bad blood in matches with AJ Agazarm and some other guys but isn’t it all about fair play?

This guy named Kevin Crane first pushed his opponent to the crowd and after that did a fake handshake to imanari roll to heel hook submission.

The question is: Is Jiu-Jitsu better than this?
