Out sized BJJ Blue Belt vs Hapkido 6th degree Black Belt

Jiu Jitsu Blue belt vs Hapkido Black belt 6th dan

A 17 Year Old (135 lbs.) Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu under 7 x IBJJF World Champion Samuel Braga / Brown Belt in The Collier Method of Judo faces a 30 Year Old (175 lbs.) 6th Degree Hapkido Black Belt at the KBMA World Grappling Championships in Concord, North Carolina (13 May 2017).

Hapkido is self-defense focused martial art that in involves both grappling and striking techniques. Compared to BJJ though, it simply isn’t on the same level and it can’t compare with BJJ in terms of grappling.

The BJJ practitioner is just a blue belt which is the first belt level after white. Now, in most martial arts you would not think that the first belt level makes you proficient enough to overcome a black belt level opponent in another martial art but BJJ is a little different.

It usually takes few years of training BJJ until you reach your blue belt and fighting agaisnt someone that have no BJJ training at all things become really easy.

In this Video also BJJ guy is out sized and he’s only 17 fighting against grown man.

“It took less than 20 seconds for Lo to jump to guard, playing a collar grip and using his long legs to unbalance Buchecha. Lo came close to getting under Buchecha’s hips but the big man’s agility enabled him to spin out and stay on top. Two and a half minutes in Lo came close to knocking Buchecha over and scored an advantage for the near-sweep.

Lo seemed happy to work his guard, pulling again and this time working a de la riva guard. Buchecha started to control Lo’s legs and seemed close to passing, but Lo’s amazing flexibility saved him. The score became even at 0-0, 1-1 adv

Around midway through the match Buchecha seemed unusually slow in getting back to his feet during a restart, with ringside spectators asking if he was hurt or in some other way unwell. His breathing seemed labored.

Lo returned to guard, and Buchecha’s trademark explosiveness was nowhere to be seen. With two minutes left he changed tactics to a slower, heavier style of passing.

Buchecha tried grinding through Lo’s guard but the match ended dead even at 0-0, 1-1 adv. As Buchecha stood, his gi came open and he rubbed at his ribs and torso, which appeared to be taped up. ”

Who is the BJJ GOAT?

Who is the BJJ goat?

Guest Post by Tatto Guedes

Here’s the deal my grappling brothers. I decided to state who is the BJJ GOAT (The Greatest of All Time) and why!

As a brazilian I’ve been around BJJ since I was a kid and back in the day (it may sound crazy these days but) even in Brazil some of us honestly believed that BJJ was the same as vale-tudo . So I always assumed that the BJJ GOAT was by far Royce Gracie since he is very respected and was on tv all the time. Years have gone by and I got educated around BJJ and learnt about Helio Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Renzo Gracie, BJ Penn, Charles Cobrinha, Romulo Barral, Leandro Lo, Marcus Buchecha and many other great athletes.
Lead by that I started my research instead of just get influenced by the media. After countless hours of research I’ve discovered that there are too many tournaments around the globe with very similar names and way too many federations (By the way never ever make the mistake of translate from some languages and try understand them and put it in a single sheet. It’s nearly impossible).

Long Story short, It’s simply impossible to make a strong argument about who’s the BJJ GOAT without being unfair with hundreds of great practitioners. Although that’s my real statement I’ll share my thoughts with you. If I had to put some money on it I’d bet Roger Gracie is the BJJ Goat and here’s 4 reasons why:

1- The Resume: Roger has simply won everything. Gracie has 10 wins at the IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championships as a black belt. The rivalry with Ronaldo Jacaré is the biggest on BJJ history and he’s just in his mid 30’s.
2- The size: If you’re a believer that in BJJ size matters like myself remember he’s just 6 ft 4 in. which allow him to face any other big opponent.

3- The mindset: During his entire career he was famous not just by winning but also because he was always looking for finish instead of scoring. In 2005’s ADCC Roger won all 8 of his matches both at the super heavyweight and absolute weight classes by submission. In the 2009 Mundials he submitted all of his opponents in the super heavyweight and the absolute weight classes.

4- The lineage: Roger Gracie has the last name of the royal family of BJJ. Got his black belt under Renzo Gracie and even if we imagine Helio and Rolls alive and competing they’d probably share the family secrets with him.

What about you? If you had to put money on it who would you choose as the BJJ GOAT?

Jocko Willink: BJJ Makes “Assassin Nerds”

Jocko Willink BJJ makes assassin Nerds

Jocko Willink is a decorated retired Navy SEAL officer, author of the book Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win, and co-founder of Echelon Front, where he is a leadership instructor, speaker, and executive coach. His podcast, The Jocko Podcast, is also available for download via iTunes & Stitcher.

In this podcast both Rogan and Jocko Willink agrees that BJJ is making assassin nerds. There is so many types of people in BJJ, from Nerds to strongmen. It’s such a sport with so many techniques that everyone can adapt to it and be successful. I guess that’s the main reason why both Joe Rogan and Jocko Willink agree that BJJ is making assassin Nerds.

Jocko said: “That’s the other thing I noticed in teaching kids jiu-jitsu, The kids that are a little bit more cerebral… You know the parents will think: my son he’s kind of a nerd, he’s kind of a smart kid I don’t know if he’s going to like it. But the opposite is actually true very often. Where the kid that’s cerebral, he’ll recognize as soon as you show him 3 things . Like you said – his wheels are turning he’s going wait a a second, this is a skill I can learn, and if I can learn to do this and the other guy doesn’t know this I will be able to beat him. And so cerebral kids often get into it even more than you know some kid that’s like a natural bruiser. ”

Joe Rogan agrees: “You know 10th planet jiu-jitsu is just filled with nerds. They’re all nerds. Assassin nerds. It’s really kinda interesting. ”

Jocko: “And you’re not being facetious when you use the word nerd. Assassin nerds.”
