What to Focus On as a New BJJ White Belt with No Submissions

What to Focus On as a New BJJ White Belt with No Submissions

When you first start BJJ training, it can be overwhelming. There is so much going on and it’s confusing about where to start. I experienced this issue when I began training. And it is a question one of my new White Belts named Taylor had a question about. His question was essentially asking what to focus on as a new BJJ White Belt.

So in this video, I share several tips about how I personally went about Brazilian Jiu-jitsu as a brand new White Belt with little to no submissions in my useable technique arsenal. I share some tips for people who are more comfortable on the bottom playing form Full Guard and I share some options for people who are more comfortable playing from the top positions.

The general idea in this video is that if you’re new to Brazilian Jiujitsu. Your goal should be to just be able to control position as best you can and survive initially. If you can control the basic positions (holding full guard, maintaining top position, etc) then overtime you’ll find that you’ll be able to mount some sort of offense attacks afterwards.

But in the beginning, if you don’t have the ability to maintain positions properly. You’ll be hard pressed to mount any submission attacks or offense techniques.

So for all the newcomers to BJJ, I hope this video is useful to you!

VIDEO Ninja Godan Test (5th Degree Black Belt)

Real Life ninja test

Rob Renner and other 15th Dan Bujinkan Ninjutsu instructors administer the Godan test (5th Dan) testing sixth sense, intuition, and personal mastery under the supervision of the Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi Sensei with Sensei Mark Roemke.

As we noticed traditional martial arts are full of weird ways of testing for belts. From some McDojo tests where you just show up to get your belt to some where you have to show some sixth sense, chi energy etc.

In this video we’re witnessing way of testing so that you have to sense the danger, feel it without seeing it. How real this is and how could that help you in real life we don’t know but it looks interesting. Of Course, we can see some details that makes this all testing looks fake but we will let you judge it. Do you really think this is some kind of a sixth sense, intuition test or just a fake test?

Guy Tries to Rob BJJ School During Class

Guy Tries to Rob BJJ School During Class

It’s really stupid to try to rob anyone but it’s even more stupid if you try to rob a BJJ school during Class. And that’s exactly what this guy did.

We can’t see what kind of punishment he got for his actions but we can see that he was probably overwhelmed by Gracie Barra guys in GIs.

Chuck Norris Black Belt vs Rickson Gracie

Chuck Norris Black Belt vs Rickson Gracie

Many people don’t know that Chuck Norris was one of the first people in the USA who started spreading Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the word of Gracie Family. He started training Jiu-Jitsu under Carlos Machado in the 1980s.

In this video, we can see that he organized a seminar for people in his organization called, Norris’ Tang Soo Do. The seminar was held by Gracie Family line up which consisted of Renzo, Royce, Relson, Rorion and also Carlos Machado who were sharing their knowledge to many Chuck Norris’s black belts from Tang Soo Do organization.

This video is showing how effective BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-jitsu) really is as we can see Rickson Gracie going on against one of the Chuck’s black belts. The fight doesn’t last as Norris’s black belt was taken down and choked very fast.

We don’t know why he challenged Steven Seagal but he did it and even offered Seagal to use any kind of Martial Art he want while he will only use boxing.

We can’t say if George is serious and probably this fight will never happen but there is more and more guys from sport that don’t believe in any skills of Steven Seagal. Interesting!

Joe Rogan Chokes a Guy in a Night Club

Joe Rogan Chokes Out a Guy in a Night Club

The UFC Comentator, BJJ Black Belt and a lot more… Joe Rogan was having a conversation with some guy inside the comedy store in Los Angeles. The guy was obviously irritating Rogan when they were debating the future, open borders and immigration to the United States.

The situation escalated when Rogan calls out a man for not being rational and the guy laughing said to Rogan to f*ck off. He also touched Rogan with his hand and Rogan told him if he touches him one more time that he will choke him out on camera. The man tempts fate and touches Rogan again so Rogan did what he promised and put him in a standing guillotine.

WARNING: The Worst Leg Break in Jiu Jitsu Ever

the worst leg brake in BJJ grappling ever

There was a lot of talking about this type of injuries but some real measures are still not there. We can see that this type of leg breaks are happening all the time.

In this case it was UFC straw weight Angela “Your Majesty” Magana in the black trunks fighting against an unknown girl, probably with wrestling background.

As you can see in a video Angela did jumping guard pull and in that moment the leg snapped. You can hear the screaming sound of this poor athlete and bones snapping and  I think you will agree with me that this is one of the worst, if not the worst leg break in BJJ or grappling matches ever.
