Small Guy did Double Leg Takedown on a Big Bully

Double leg and grappling martial arts in a real life street fight situations

Being smaller doesn’t necessarily need to concern you in a street fight if you know how to use the right techniques at the right time.

Let’s imagine that smaller guys are trying to outpunch big guys in a street fight. Their chances of winning a fight are significantly decreased. Taking your opponent down shouldn’t be a problem at all if you’re a trained grappler against a trained or untrained striker without any takedown defense training. Also, we all know that smaller guys have a lower base and their chances of staying on their feet are very good and if you combine it with their quickness and fast ability to clinch, grappling sports like BJJ, Wrestling, Sambo, etc. are perfect for them.

What do you think? Is this the right way this small guy should fight? Are grappling Martial Arts perfect for smaller guys for 1 on 1 street fights?

Or check this video where the difference between both guys is huge but the small guy still manages to double leg this big bully.

GOOGLE, Facebook and Others Offers its Employees Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Training

GOOGLE Offers its Employees Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Training And is Not The Only one

The Googleplex, Google’s headquarters in Mountain View California, is a very well organized place where you spent literally all your day and to never get bored. It’s filled with tech geniuses, free healthy meals for its staff, table tennis and all kind of sports. Also, a few years ago, Google offered their employees to train Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Google’s BJJ classes are taught by Milton Bastos, BJJ Black Belt, a World (2010), Pan Ams (2009, 2012) and World No-Gi (2009, 2012, 2013) champion from San Jose.

Milton Baston: “Class at google today reach full capacity … I guess we will need more mat space to attend more people… Thank you all who joined the class.”

What’s even more interesting is that Google uses it’s own custom company BJJ GIs and Rashguards.

Also looks like that’s some other big companies are started to follow an example from Google and they also offer their students training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

GovSmart is a multi-million dollar IT company has been offering its employees free BJJ lessons for the past 6 years. It’s named the fastest growing company in Charlottesville for the second year in a row and credits much of its success to Jiu-Jitsu.

GovSmart CEO Brent Lillard is a Pedro Sauer purple belt who has been training for 10 years. He wants to increase the self-confidence of his employees with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He said for newsplex.com:

You see exactly who the person is. You really don’t know someone, I feel like, until you’ve rolled with them. I see smaller more easily intimidated people becoming more comfortable and then I see the bigger cockier person become a little bit more humble because they are getting beat up by people much smaller than them. I myself lose five pounds of water weight every class. One guy lost over 160 pounds doing Jiu-Jitsu.”

When we get in stressful situations where some of the equipment we’re delivering is mission-critical, we’re able to keep our heads clear,” said GovSmart Vice President Adam Deane.

Facebook is another huge company that offers its employees BJJ training. In the picture below you can see their custom-made BJJ Gis by Hyperfly.

Rener Gracie Challenged by 270lbs Guy convinced that BJJ wouldn’t Work on Him

Rener Gracie Challenged by 270lbs Guy convinced that BJJ wouldn't Work on Him

When we think about combat sports or martial arts, size and strength often come to the forefront as major advantages. It’s a common assumption that a larger, stronger opponent will have the upper hand. This belief was recently put to a rigorous test in a captivating video featuring Rener Gracie, a prominent member of the renowned Gracie family and the grandson of Helio Gracie, the co-founder of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).

In the video, Rener faces a challenge quite unlike any other: a 16-year-old behemoth who stands at a staggering 6’10” and weighs a hefty 270 lbs. This youthful Goliath, with his undeniable physical prowess, was convinced that the techniques of BJJ would be ineffective against him. Given his size and strength, many might have shared his skepticism.

Yet, as the video unfolds, Rener seeks to not just demonstrate but also educate. He delves into a foundational philosophy of Jiu Jitsu: the notion that, when the confrontation shifts to the ground, size differences become inconsequential. As Rener aptly points out in the video description, “once the fight hits the ground, we’re all the same size.”

This principle lies at the heart of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It’s a martial art that emphasizes technique, leverage, and positioning over brute strength. While standing confrontations may favor the physically dominant, the ground is an equalizing terrain where knowledge, experience, and skill play the defining roles.

Rener Gracie’s demonstration is more than just a martial arts video. It’s an illustrative lesson on the importance of technique, the potential of the human spirit, and the need to challenge and question our own preconceived notions. In the face of skepticism and doubt, Jiu Jitsu, as embodied by Rener and countless practitioners worldwide, sends a clear message: with the right approach and mindset, one can overcome even the most daunting of challenges.

For those intrigued by martial arts or simply the dynamics of human confrontation, the video offers a compelling watch. It is a testament to the legacy of the Gracie family and the transformative power of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Through such demonstrations, viewers are reminded that in the vast landscape of combat, knowledge and technique reign supreme, regardless of one’s size.

Small Guy Takes Down a Big Bully

no matter how skilled you are without take down defense you are going down

If you have no takedown defense and you weren’t training any kind of grappling sport it’s very hard to stay on your feet. No matter how big or how skilled you are in any stand-up martial art without takedown defense you’re going down. It’s been proven many times and this is just one more proof.

Of course, when you and your opponent start swinging there is a chance someone will get a lucky shot but the percentage of a one-shot knockdown is so small that the grappling guy will most likely get on top.

Check out the video HERE.

BREAKING: Leandro Lo was shot in the head by the police officer in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Jiu-Jitsu Champion Leandro Lo is shot in the head in Sao Paulo

According to the g1 Leandro Lo shot in the club in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Leandro Lo’s lawyer claims that the athlete is already brain dead. After the altercation, the young guy pulled out a gun and shot Leandro in order to immobilize a fellow participant during a pagode performance at the Club Sírio in Indianapolis.

The jiu-jitsu world champion Leandro Pereira do Nascimento Lo, 32, was shot at a party within the Club Sírio in the Indianópolis neighborhood of São Paulo’s South Zone around 3 a.m. on Sunday (7). The lawyer of the fighter claims that he has suffered brain death.

Leandro Lo is Shot in the head

The shooter is identified, but the police have not yet confirmed his name.

The family’s lawyer, Ivã Siqueira Junior, stated that the victim had a quarrel with the attacker and immobilized the man to defuse the tension. The attacker drew a weapon and shot the fighter in the head and walked away.

The lawyer says that, after the shooting, the shooter still kicked the victim twice on the ground and then fled.

Few people heard the noise because the sound was loud due to the show.

A friend of the fighter who witnessed the crime said that the shooter was alone and provoked Lo and five friends, who were at the table.

“He arrived and took a bottle of liquor from our table. Lo just immobilized him to calm down. He took four or five steps and fired,” said the witness, who asked not to be named.”

The athlete was rescued and taken to the Saboya Municipal Hospital, in Jabaquara, also in the South Zone of SP.

The g1 contacted the Municipal Health Department to confirm the fighter’s health status, but he still did not receive a response until the last update of this report.

Leandro Lo was jiu-jitsu world champion eight times. The last time, in the light heavyweight category, was in 2022, and the first time was in 2012, in the lightweight category.

On social media, he narrates the two achievements as “the Two most important career achievements”.

“The first title is the feeling of being world champion, that way I can still be world champion, the two best feelings of my life. Thanks to everyone who is always with me in joy and sadness!”, Lo said in a post on social networks two months ago, when he remembered the anniversary of the world’s achievements.”

UPDATE:

Who shot Leandro Lo?

Officer Oliveira Velozo is a suspect in the Lo murder investigation. Combate was the first to report the identity of the person alleged to have committed the crime. He has not been detained as of now. The Hospital had been forbidden by Leandro’s family to provide any more information, but Agfight confirmed his death.

Unity, one of Leandro’s adopted homes, confirmed the news on their Facebook page. “The greatest of all time. Dearest, most courageous, most good people ever existed,” said.” Eternal hero of all who was lucky enough to get to know you. Sleep well, brother. We’ll see each other again sometime.”

Leandro Lo CoursesUPDATE 2:

Police officer Henrique Otavio Oliveira Velozo, charged with murdering eight-time jiu-jitsu world champion Leandro Lo at a concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil over the weekend, has turned himself in. Following news from G1, MMA Fighting confirmed it.

According to witnesses, Lo pinned the police officer who is a purple belt in jiu-jitsu, who had come to their table to try and calm things down after Velozo took the bottle from Lo’s table. They were separated and Velozo was allowed back to his feet, but then he took two or three steps backward and shot Lo in the head. Later that night, Lo was pronounced dead.

Velozo was sentenced to five years in jail for stealing $1.2 million from the city of Palmdale, California. According to UOL Brazil, however, this isn’t Velozo’s first bust with the authorities. In 2017, a police officer was convicted of assaulting a fellow officer at a club. He was convicted but did not receive any time behind bars.

At 33, Lo won a long list of important titles as a jiu-jitsu competitor, including eight gold medals at the IBJJF Worlds. He defeated Gordon Ryan, Andre Galvao, Gilbert Burns, and others.

Jiri Prochazka Charters a Yacht In Croatia To Enjoy His Summer Vacation

Jiri Prochazka on a yacht in Croatia

Recently crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka will spend the summer on vacation in Croatia. Just like many of his compatriots, the Czech fighter has chosen the Adriatic sea and Croatian coast as his destination.

In mid-June, he won his belt against Glover Teixeira after only three fights in the world’s most popular MMA organization. He followed Volkan Ozdemir, Dominick Reyes, and finally Glover Teixeira and after his great success, he was welcomed as a god in his native land.

Now he has decided to take a little rest, as he has no match arranged yet, although he announced on social networks that he would like to face the last opponent he fought, Teixeira, in the ring.

We talked to the company where Jiri chartered the yacht, Yacht For Charter Croatia, and got some interesting information. Yacht For Charter Croatia Company organized a full Jiri’s vacation in Croatia, from renting a yacht of his choice to visiting different places, hidden beaches, and the most popular places for summer parties.

Namely, Jiri has a very refined taste when it comes to yachts. He chose a yacht that is one of the best yachts in the category with a lot of additional equipment and things related to various things to have fun at sea.

We did not get an answer to the question, of with whom Jiri travels since it is a business secret, but from Jiri’s Instagram profile we can see that Jiri does not travel alone but in the company of two friends.

What we managed to find out is that Jiri is staying in Croatia for two weeks and that he will spend one week in the northern part of the Adriatic and the other in the southern part. It is known so far that he was in Novalja and visited Zrće. He enjoys not only the Adriatic sea but also the mountains

Jiri will train Jiu Jitsu in Split, Croatia.

We found out from Jiri’s manager that he will spend the second week in Split. It’s the second largest city in Croatia and one of the main tourist destinations.  where he announced that Jiri will also visit the Jiu Jitsu academy in Split, Infinity BJJ Split, and spend the rest of the week on a yacht on the islands.

If you ask us, there is certainly no better combination than yachting and Jiu-Jitsu combined.

Although Jiri once emphasized that he does not do Jiu-Jitsu but only ground and pound, we learn from the media that Jiri regularly trains Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as part of his regular preparations.

For the next two weeks, he will be on his annual training, but it is not known if he will spend the entire period in Croatia, it is known so far that he was in Novalja and visited Zrće. He enjoyed not only our sea, but also the mountains, and he spends time with his family and friends in beautiful Croatia.

Why did Jiri choose Croatia for his yachting vacation?

Well, it’s not a secret that Croatia is a leading yachting country in the Mediterranean and is known for its stunning coastline, clear waters, and friendly atmosphere. The country has over 1,000 islands, many of which are uninhabited, making it a perfect destination for those looking to explore. There are also plenty of sheltered coves and bays to anchor in, making it a safe and enjoyable place to sail.

Croatia is a great destination for both experienced sailors and those new to the sport. The country’s extensive coastline and numerous islands offer something for everyone, and there are plenty of charter companies that can provide you with everything you need to enjoy a sailing holiday in Croatia. So whether you’re looking for an adventurous sailing trip or a relaxing break in the sun, Croatia is the perfect destination.

As Jiri already visited Zrće which is known for its summer parties it’s pretty likely he’ll continue partying in Split and the islands near Split like Brac and Hvar where parties are happening 24/7 in the summertime.
