Andre Galvao Releases a Statement: 'I Forgive Gordon Ryan'

Few days after the incident, Andre Galvao decided to speak about the incident with Gordon Ryan. After Gordon Ryan explained what happened and why he slapped Andre, Galvao responds in a different manner.

You can read  below what Andre Galvao said about the incident, the way he sees it,  why he didn’t react, and a lot more about him

“First of all, I would like to apologize to all of you guys, to my family, my students, my team, to Jiu-Jitsu community, for being involved in this situation

It was a said situation, I’m not proud of what happened. I was wrong from the beginning.

The first thing I was wrong was that I flipped on Gordon and then I went back to him, towards him, I cursed and I’ve said some bad words. I tried to talk to him, communicate something. I wasn’t ready for aggression or anything, but I’ve said some bad things and then violence escalated.

Gordon slapped me and I maintained calm and I recognized I made a mistake, and I knew that consequences could come. So I pushed him, he surprised me and I truly made a mistake for being involved in all that. Even a few months ago I was involved in this situation.

So, why I didn’t fight back.

I know how to fight. I was fighting professionally my entire life. I know how to do it, I know what is a fight. I know that fighting in the streets has no rules. I knew that I could pay the consequences and I had to care about my future.

There could be something really nasty. So we never know what could really happen. We don’t know when we respond the same way. Things can be worse, and I thought about my work and everything… I controlled myself. I knew if I escalate the violence something nasty can happen.

Fortunately, I didn’t react, I was calm, I spit it out. I said everything that was in my heart. I feel good about this. I can breathe. I have a good feeling about that right now, I’m in peace.

I’m a martial arts teacher and Jiu-Jitsu is not a street fight. I knew that a street fight is completely different than fighting on a mat. I was aware of everything and I thank God.

So, what I think about trash talk.

I think trash talk is good to promote a fight, but it’s not good for life. People start talking things to each other and that’s escalating and people can get hurt in the real world.

I thought there was a way to promote a fight. I fought for my entire life. I fought professionally and all that. But I also know there is a law on the streets. For everything you do, there are consequences, especially when done out of control.

I decided to be away from this. Trash talk has consequences, like I said people can get hurt in the real world. It’s not cool, it’s not nice, I’m proof of that. I don’t want to be involved in this.

Everything I achieved in my life I achieved with a lot of work and ethics, positivity, and with God. I know that I could do a mistake and things could get worse. Now it’s time to fix it.

People want me to kill this guy. They say to do this, do that… I don’t want to keep the spirit of revenge in myself and that’s not me. People who know me know that’s not me. I wanna take this negativity off of my life.

I wanna keep on my purpose. I have a beautiful family. I was off the path for the last couple of months being involved in this thing.

So, what am I really gonna do with Gordon Ryan right now? I will forgive him. I forgive Gordon Ryan.

I recognized my mistake. People tell me to do differently but I forgive him because I don’t think this is the way, I don’t think so.

I don’t want any of my students, anyone from my team to be involved in this. And what I want to do from now on is to keep my legacy through my family and my students. Doing the best as I always did and get back to my purpose. My purpose is to inspire people, to help people, to motivate people, and my purpose is to be the example of the man of God. I want to be back to that.

Everything that I achieved in my life was with god. You can say anything you want, but to be able to do everything that we did here is amazing. I can see this more and without God I’m nothing.

Jiu-Jitsu is an art of self-control. I used Jiu-Jitsu out there. I used martial arts. When the violence escalated I said wait, I controlled myself. I know the words of God. I know there are consequences for everything you say, everything you do.

I was very calm at the moment and I thank God to give me tranquility there. I teach my students how to fight on the mat, not to fight on the streets and I do the best for them.

For my entire life, I was building such a beautiful legacy out there. We’re one the best teams in the world. I decided to share a little piece of my work I give 50% on my online school. I want to share with people how I do things. how I teach. I want to show how our work here is so beautiful. That’s what I want to do, that’s what in my heart.

Andre Galvao DVDs Instructionals

I believe that was a big lesson, I recognize that. Sometimes we have to learn a lesson like that. I hope you guys can learn from my example. Thanks, everyone for messaging me and supporting me. I have to back to my purpose. Jesus is the way and truth and without him I’m nothing. Keep praying for me, God Bless you guys.” – said Andre Galvao

Gordon Ryan Open Guard Supine Position DVD Instructional Review

Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position Gordon Ryan Instructional Review

Gordon Ryan’s instructional on the seated open guard was something else. While it is an exclusive No-Gi instructional, it does open up new ways of approach to how we play all open guards. In fact, Gordon’s open guard system has two main subsystems – playing from a seated or a supine position. Today, we have the Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position Gordon Ryan Instructional Review. It will cover guard variations that were not covered in the first edition of seated guards, and everything in this DVD ties in perfectly with the previous one into an impregnable system.

This Gordon Ryan Instructional Review was one of the more interesting ones to do. As a guard player, most of my own game revolves around seated guards, so this was an eye-opener. It provides so many more options to what we are used to and systematizes the best guards for the job. Lying on your back doesn’t have to mean you’re only playing defense, but rather attacking from a position of relative safety. Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position is a DVD that everyone should see at least once. In fact, I’d pick it over the seated guard one in terms of the importance of the information it relays.

The Supine Open Guard In BJJ

What exactly is the supine position in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? It is when you play guard while having your shoulder blades on the ground, or at least one of your shoulder blades. While you might think you play most guards from that position when it comes to picking those that actually work from there, you’ll end up with quite a small choice. In Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position, Gordon Ryan further narrows that choice to just a handful of guard positions that you can rely on day in day out.

Apart from the closed guard, which is covered in different Gordon Ryan DVD, other guards that you play while lying on the ground with your back are not many. Basically, it comes to distance control. When someone is closer to you, playing seated guard makes much more sense. When people are away, the length of your legs is something you can maximally use only if you are on your back. Interestingly enough, when people are as close as possible, i.e. right on top of you, it comes down to supine guards again (think X guards or the deep half). Basically extremely far and close distances are covered by supine guards, and medium distances are seated open guard territory.

As you will see in the following detailed Gordon Ryan Instructional Review, Ryan, has a system of several guards that cover both very far and very near distances, and easily achieve the two main goals of any open guard. Those two goals are first, the ability to stay in the guard indefinitely, and secondly, the ability to attack with sweeps or submissions. Supine guards, or better said, some carefully select ones, can offer all of that without you having to break a sweat. Just keep reading.

Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position Gordon Ryan Instructional Review

In this particular DVD instructional, Ryan sticks to the format of the seated open guard DVD. That makes it easy to connect both of them and use them as a system. Of course, there are Gordon’s signature rolling and narrated rolls volumes as well, which are an immense tool in putting together all the information that he presents in a meaningful and logical way.

The Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position instructional contains a total of eight volumes, six of which are technical ones, and two consist of rolls and narrated rolls covering the subject matter. The progression goes from a general introduction and basic principles of open guards to how Ashi Garami can be used as a guard. Ryan then covers different supine guards in volumes 2 – 6, most of which you know and use on a daily basis in training. That makes this DVD perfect for people of all sizes and experience levels. Check out the play-by-play Gordon Ryan Instructional Review to see exactly what awaits in each volume.

Part 1 – Supine Position Scenarios

After a short overview of the system as a whole Gordon Ryan focuses on the 4 key scenarios which you will encounter when playing open guards and which will determine whether you succeed or fail with your guard game. The interface of inside and outside leg positioning is the first hugely important subject Ryan covers. This is basically what determines what type of guard you will be playing. Negating movement and goal setting follow suit, as principles not many people consider when playing guard. The final thing Ryan points out and which you should really think about is the mechanical advantage of having conclave shoulders.

The second portion of the first volume of the Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position DVD looks into Ashi Garami as a bottom position of control, rather than just the preface to a leg lock attack. Ryan goes over drills, entireties, sweeps, and ways to switch between using Ashi Garami control on either leg. The dilemma of whether to sweep or reap the knee along with ways of changing Ashi positions on the same leg is also covered here.

Part 2 – X Guard And Ashi Garami Basics

What is the difference between X guard and the Ashi Garami? in this portion of the Gordon Ryan Instructional review we’ll talk about how Gordon explains it all. HE likes to do what he calls the Ashi X, a blend of the Ashi Garami used for leg locks and the traditional Single Lg X Guard positioning. He goes over several options from there, like switching to outside Ashi or Irimi Ashi.

Basic attacks from the X guard follow, in the form of several sweep options. Several Scissor sweep variations come first, before ways of getting leg locking options when some of them fail. A transition between the Ashi X and the scorpion half guard is also featured here, along with a follow-up sweep and a back take option. Even more leg lock entries are not far behind as well.

Part 3 – Attacks And Counterattacks

The third volume is still about the Ashi X guard, moving from retention and sweeping into counterattacks. Backsteps are a common icloaessue when it comes to playing the traditional X guard and its variations. After a couple of options from the position, though, is where the real good stuff starts.

Namely, Ryan starts explaining and exploring the Ushiro X Guard, a different way of playing the full X guard that is optimized to tie in with Ashi Garami positions. The rest of the volume is all about the Ushiro X, and all the ways in which you can attack with it. The scissor sweep appears again, along with the reverse scissor sweep. Furthermore, Cross Ashi Garami entries and back takes make up most of the chapters in this portion of the Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position DVD.

Towards the end of the volume, Gordon goes over the trilemma of the Ushiro X Guard, which includes the options of a back take, guard pass, or a leg lock, and a hip heist to get you out of trouble if you fail with all three.

Part 4 – The De La Riva Guard

In the fourth volume of the instructional, Gordon starts looking onto the De La Riva guard, which is slightly unusual when he is in question. The truth is, while we haven’t seen him or anyone from the DDS plays this guard too much, it is something they value and practice a lot.

The De la Riva Gordon show,s though, is far from the one you’re most likely used to. The tripod sweep comes first, and from there on, it is all about Ahsi Garami once again. Failing the tripod sweeps just means Ashi Garami options open up easily. Other De La Riva sweeps also open up Ashi entries, like the hip bump sweep. Several interesting sweep options follow before Ryan concludes this part with a 50/50 entry from the De La Riva guard.

Part 5 – No-Gi Berimbolo

Halfway through the Gordon Ryan Instructional Review of Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position, Gordon throws in something quite unexpected and devotes an entire volume to the Berimbolo. As you’d expect, though, it is quite a different take on the Berimbolo.

Gordon does it without the Gi, which significantly changes how you grip and move. All of that is explained in great detail, as Ryan takes you from a cross-body ride entrance all the way to back exposure and even forcing leg drags off of the Berimbolo. What happens if you fail? You guessed it, you get a chance to enter Ashi Garami and go for leg locks!

Gordon wraps up with inverted leg lock entries and tactics to deal with float passes.

Part 6 – Reverse De La Riva

After covering the De La Riva guard and Berimbolo, Ryan goes into the Reverse De La Riva. Along with the X guard, this has always been one of the guards people claim is the best for No-Gi. Ryan seems to share that sentiment.

The progression here is similar to that in the De la Riva volume. The tripod sweep is the first attack, with Ashi Garami entries being the backup if that fails. Even more interestingly though, Ryan connects the De La Riva here, by offering a slick transition from the tripod sweep.

Apart from “regular” stuff like the single leg and Ashi Grami entries from the RDL, Ryan also shares a way to invert from the Reverse De la Riva guard. In fact, connecting the two De la Riva Guard variations is what concludes this volume, and with it the technical part of the Gordon Ryan instructional Review. That is not the end, though.

Part 7 – Rolling

Rolling volumes are a given in Gordon Ryan BJJ DVDs and “Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position” is no different. The seventh volume covers rolls with five different partners. During those rolls, Ryan does his best to force guard playing situations, and he sticks to the things demonstrated in the six volumes above.

Part 8 – Narrated Rolling

The real gem in terms of rolling, though, is the final volume of the entire instructional. It has Ryan narrating rolls with the same five training partners, this time doing a step-by-step analysis of everything he does. It is a unique chance to not just learn how he builds a supine open guard game, but also how his mind works during rolling. Arguably, the best part of the entire DVD, but will only make sense if you watch all the material first.

Wrapping Up

This Gordon Ryan Instructional Review of the Systematically Attacking The Guard Supine Position goes deep into each volume and what it contains, but it doesn’t come even close to what you actually get when you watch the DVD yourself. The best part about this instructional is that it is No-Gi. Why? Well, when you know how to perform something without the Gi, doing it with it will make little to no difference. In other words, if you want to develop a mean guard game that prevents people from passing and opens them for attacks, this is the DVD to get. This, and the seated open guard Gordon Ryan DVD, of course.

Everyone’s Favorite Guard

At one point or another in BJJ, you will play half guard. It is too available and instinctive to skip over. Even with people that are brand new, the moment they’re under pressure and realize that someone being past their legs is not good, they’ll figure out a way to cling to one leg using both of theirs. In a nutshell, that is what the half guard position is in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The half guard was created by a Brazilian (Roberto Gordo) who had an injured leg in the old days and couldn’t play closed guard. So, he decided to play closed guard on just one leg and ended up with a brand new position. This position turned out to be everyone’s go-to guard and most people’s favorite. And there are several reasons for that.

The half guard will allow you to stay on the bottom and prevent guard passes without really having to think too much. It also offers lots of sweeping attacks and some submission options, again, without too much effort, and more importantly, with very little risk of losing the position or ending up the victim of a counter.

In the midst of hundreds of different half guard DVDs though, picking up a Gordon Ryan  DVD instructional on the subject of the half guard is a no-brainer, really. Of course, you get a No-Gi system, but that just means it will work perfectly in both Gi and No-Gi. That’s what Systematically Attacking From Half Guard can do for you.

Systematically Attacking From Half Guard Gordon Ryan DVD Instructional Review

Now that it is clear why everyone loves the half guard, let’s see Gordon’s take on it. We haven’t seen Gordon play lots of half guard, mostly because he is so dominant or top, and people disengage from most of his guards for the fear of leg locks. As is the case with the DDS, that does not mean that they don’t know how to play half guard.

The Systematically Attacking From Half Guard Gordon Ryan DVD Instructional clearly demonstrates this. Once again, Ryan goes about things in his original fashion, directing the half guard from the perspective of principles and ideas that are not common, to say the least. There are 8 volumes, each covering different aspects of the half guard position. There are, in fact, several different half guard variations in this instructional, and all of them are high percentage half guards you want to have in your arsenal.

Volume 1: Introduction To The Half Guard

The first volume of this Gordon Ryan DVD Instructional starts off with the usual introduction to the system. This instructional, however, is different from other Ryan ones, mostly in the fact that this one has a lot more chapters per volume than is usual for Ryan’s instructionals.

I usually always talk about the relation between Danaher’s and Ryan’s DVDs whenever they cover the same subject, like the back, or passing the guard. Well, in this DVD, Ryan does it himself, talking about the “John Danaher Paradox” at the beginning of his DVD. He then does a general overview of his half guard system, before using the butterfly half guard to start exploring some general principles.

Some of the main principles that will appear later on throughout this instructional cover inside space, head control, effective framing, the central shift dilemma, and a discussion about the underhook. Some basic transitions also future, covering things like going to the Sumi Gaeshi, Irimi Ashi Garami, Cross Ashi, etc. A portion on the power of the scoop grip wraps it all up.

Volume 2: Troubleshooting The Half Guard

Part two of Systematically Attacking From Half Guard is all about FAQs. Basically, it is a troubleshooting guide solving most of the questions you have on the half guard, and just as many you’ve never thought of.

The pinch headlock is first up, providing several attacking options from the bottom, in the shape of sweeps and leg lock entries. Following suit is the first of many troubleshooting subjects – what to do when an overhook Sumi Gaeshi fails. Ryan analyzes the problem and offers a solution that will give you an attacking alternative. Along the same lines, he covers failed arm drags, knee lever switches, kimuras, etc. Of course, the Half Guard Gordon Ryan DVD also offers solutions for each and every issue covered in this volume.

Volume 3: Shifting The Lower Leg

Starting from volume three, Gordon starts to cover some of the more unique principles that make his system tick. The principle of shifting the lower leg is a huge one in half guard, and Ryan covers it in extreme depth, starting with eh knee shield half guard position.

The first thing on this agenda is, understandably, the underhook game from the knee shield. He uses it to introduce the principle of the lower leg shift, covering the transition into it as well. From there on, he is free to explore sweeping as well as dealing with common counters like the Whizzer.

Some of the other subjects covered in this volume of the Gordon Ryan DVD Instructional are counters to the common backstep by using the lower leg shift, going back towards the headlock pinch and/or butterfly guard, attacking with submissions when opponent’s get underhooks of their own, and much more.

Volume 4: Knee Levers

Another huge half guard principle is that of knee levers, which is exactly what Ryan covers in the fourth volume of his Systematically Attacking From Half Guard DVD. The introduction is through the one-on-one basic knee lever, covering the importance of this area of the half guard.

Immediately after the basics, Ryan covers getting out of bad spots, like for example, options off of a failed knee lever. He then goes into Kimuras from bottom half and how they relate to and differ from arm drags done from a knee shield, This sets him up to explore a sneaky knee lever entry when an opponent counters an arm drag with a Darce choke from the top.

Of course, there’s also an entry into Ashi Garami, this time on the far leg. One of the more interesting chapters in this entire Half Guard Gordon Ryan DVD is the one on stalling, and in particular, extreme stalling and how to solve situations in which people are trying to do nothing.

Volume 5: Deep Half Stuff

The deep half guard s another one of those half guard variations that people simply love to play. It is definitely a secure spot to hang out into, and attack from, especially for smaller or older grapplers. However, now Ryan sheds some light on the position that will make it attractive for everyone.

After introducing the mechanics of the p[osoition, Ryan connects it with the butterfly half guard via a very simple transition. He also covers several “what if” scenarios, covering situations when an opponent places one or the other knee on the mats There are also the opportunities such actions offer to the deep half guard player (of course, including lots of leg locks).

A few interesting chapters wrap this volume of the Gordon Ryan DVD Instructional up, looking into counters to the backstep, recovering from failed back attacks, sweeps, and some less known deep half guard entires.

Volume 6: Scorpion Half Guard

The scorpion half guard is as exciting to play as it sounds and even more dangerous. It provides you with more security in terms of guard retention and offers different attacking dynamics and mechanics. Hip heisting is one of the first things Gordon covers, as one of the most important motions you can do from the scorpion half guard.

The scoop grip features heavily again in conjunction with the scorpion half guard. Overwrap grips, locking the scorpion when the rear knee is on the ground, waiter sweep options, and several different dilemmas are all covered in this portion of the instructional. Several back takes and some pummeling thoughts and directions wrap up the technical parts of the Systematically Attacking From Half Guard Gordon Ryan DVD.

Volume 7: Narrated Half Guard Rolls

As you would expect from a Gordon Ryan DVD instructional, there are also plenty of narrated rolls allowing you to figure out what and how Gordon does when playing the half guard. To that extent, Ryan rolls with five different training partners and focuses on using all of the Half Guard stuff presented in the volumes above. In fact, he makes it a case to work the half guard for most of the time, precisely narrating what he is doing, and more importantly, what he is thinking.

Volume 8: Narrated Rolling

The final volume of the DVD is another one filled with rolls, this time not restricted to the half guard. Once again, Ryan rolls with 5 different partners, narrating every aspect of what he is doing. While not Half Guard specific, he does go into the position during trolls, thus explaining how it all integrates into a full game plan.

Closing Thoughts

Systematically Attacking From Half Guard Gordon Ryan DVD Instructional offers a lot of new insights into one of the most utilized and versatile positions in the entire sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  Gordon’s take on int is the perfect blend of Danaher’s high-level instructions and Ryan’s own competitive and teaching experiences. IF you were looking for a way to easily and logically systematize half guard, this is the only instructional you’ll ever need!

King Arthur’s Pose – One Stretch to Fix Your Lower Back Pain

King Arthur's Stretch pose

Tight Psoas or tight hip flexors can be linked to lower back pain and if you do Jiu-Jitsu, you know what lower back pain feels like.

We are all too used to waking up with a sore back after a few hard rounds of sparring the night before. The problem is we all get up and carry on with our day feeling sore and not dealing with the issue, but stretching and working on your mobility can help you get rid of that.

This stretch can help with some causes of lower back pain because when the hip flexors are tight it can be putting extra pressure on your lower back. The added hip mobility will benefit your Jiu-Jitsu too, giving you more movement and more options on the mats.

My own experience with King Arthur’s stretching pose.

What’s even more important is that this stretch really works, and it works instantly. I’m talking from my own experience here. If you have problems with the lower back after roll, or usually having lower back pain on one side immediately after doing this stretch I can’t feel the same pain. It feels like it magically removes it.

It doesn’t mean your back is healed or that you won’t have problems ever again cause every deeper problem you have in your back needs more stretching and healing than just removing pain temporarily. But if we can help ourselves with the pain we should try it.

Spend a few minutes on each side in this stretch and feel the benefits for yourself! If you don’t have a mat you can put your gi jacket under your knee.

Gabi Garcia: ‘If Gordon Ryan Challenges me, I’ll Accept it’

Gabi Garcia: If gordon Ryan challenges me I'll accept it

Gabi Garcia was pretty clear in this one. ‘I’m F… number one in the world’

“It doesn’t matter what happens tomorrow, but you guys have to understand why am I a number one. I’ll show you guys why I’m the f… number one in the world.

Don’t have excuses when people challenge you. If Gordon Ryan challenges me, I’ll accept it. This is my job.

If you come to the internet and talk shit about me, don’t say I hurt my knee or I hurt my shoulder. If you challenge someone, go there and fight” – said Gabi Garcia.

Gordon Ryan About Galvao and Atos Team Members: ‘They’re a Group of Scum’

Gordon Ryan About Galvao and Atos Team Members: 'They're a Group of Scum'

Following the incident with Andre Galvao, Gordon Ryan has nothing good to say about Atos and its team members.

“Let’s keep few things in mind and look at the facts. The first shit talk ever between me and Atos was when I beat Hulk (Lucas Barbosa) at F2W in 2017. Andre Galvao and Hulk threw a temper tantrum on IG, I retaliated.

I didn’t say one word of shit-talk about Andre after ADCC because he said he was retired. Only when he started with me did I answer. All I said initially was that he had a great career and he said he was retired, but if he wants to compete, it’s be an honor. This is 100% fact.

Everyone paints Atos as a group of angels, but they’re really a group of scum. Josh Hinger tried to get us kicked from ADCC and tricked Craig Jones with that fake picture. Kaynan Duarte fucked me and literally every person involved in the Modolfo Camp out of hundreds of thousands of dollars and went back on his word after having a clear (and legal) agreement

Hulk talks shit publicly once a week about banging nat, which again, is fine with me. You’d have dumber than Lucas to make that swap. Keep in mind that not once did I ever mention Andre’s kids or wife. Not that I’m opposed to it, because I absolutely would. But I and Andre have always been very respectful towards each other families, but the rest of Atos hasn’t.

Again, I literally don’t care if Lucas talks about gang banging nat backstage at a tournament. You think shit like that phases me after watching my dead dad’s body being peeled off the bed and thrown on the floor. Good Luck Lmao.

Keenan Cornelius, Andre’s student and black belt got thrown out of Atos, had no place to train, so I invited him to Renzo’s to help him with his ADCC camp, even though that made ZERO sense seeing as he was in my division. Then, what did he do in return? He tried to also get us kicked out of ADCC. On top of taking all the shit, John taught him and selling it on his website as his own. All after we invited him in when he had nowhere to go.

Ronaldo Junior, one of the only guys who was with Andre during the drama, was too busy crying in the corner, rather than being there to back his buddy up. Imagine if it were Garry or Tom in that situation? The whole team is ready. Ronaldo wasn’t even there to offer help if Andre needed it and Andre is on camera demanding respect from me.

Imagine this. He has his black belt (Keenan Cornelius) who had a falling out with open a school two blocks away from him, tries to poach his students and instructors, and openly talked shit about them. The best part, after all that, Keenan convinced all of Andre’s top students to move to his platform and teach for him.

Think about that. Andre has his website, Atos Online, and now you have Keenan, who takes all Andre’s top students, who all agree to teach for Keenan website. Andre’s students are literally taking money out of his pocket and food out his kids’ mouths by doing this. Andre is over here demanding respect from me. But it’s clear that his own students don’t have an ounce of respect for him. And now, neither does anyone else on the fucking planet.

Clowns. Your morale might be worse than your technique. I never started with Atos in the realm of shit-talking, but now that it’s kicked off, I will NEVER stop. But it’s not even shit-talking. Like always, and like everything above, it’s facts.” – wrote Gordon Ryan

Gordon Ryan Explains Why he Slapped Andre Galvao

Gordon Ryan Explains Why he Slapped Andre Galvao

Gordon Ryan Explains Why he Slapped Andre Galvao

After Gordon Ryan Slapped Andre Galvao he told Andre Galvao why he did it.

“I have to give an interview, the athletes have to give interviews after fights. Maybe if you fought you would have to do an interview”

“You act like a little kid” – Galvao replied

“I went to shake your hand because that’s what we do after the competition and you foot me off and you called me a pushy. I smacked you over your f… mouth and you walked away from me.” -explained Gordon Ryan

What’s even more interesting Gordon Ryan wrote on his Instagram profile that he was, actually, defending himself from Andre Galvao.

What do you think? Did Gordon have any reason to slap Andre? Their online altercations went too far this time?

Gordon also wrote a message:

“Message to competition black belts – please stop being so “dogshit” terrible after 30 years of training. At this point, I’m literally offering my own money to people just to beat me. I’m offering shit bag @gustavoebatista 5k and he gets to START MOUNTED WITH MY HANDS OVER MY HEAD.

Could you imagine declining an offer like that when literally no one knows who you are in the 1st place and you’re getting paid more for one match than you would’ve made all year through all revenue streams combined? IM LETTING HIM START MOUNTED?. He called me out and was mad I said the Atos guys don’t actually know moves. Well not only do I challenge him to a match, where he starts in the mount, but I challenge him to name a SINGLE discernible move that his buddy actually tried yesterday because there wasn’t one lmao.

I also love how Gustavo started talking shit, then challenged me to an IBJJF match, which literally no promoter in their right mind would organize, due to the inherent promotion of stalling with their rules. Or the fact that he says I’m scared to face HIM in IBJJF rules, yet I’m a double gold no gi pan and world champion.

Or the fact that he thinks he is in a position to request ANYTHING when negotiating a match with me. I also love how his argument is based around the fact that he says I have an advantage because I only train no-gi, but for DECADES Brazilians have all been telling us “Porra, you gotta train in the gi if you want to be good no-gi. Porra, makes you more technical ” well by that logic I should be at an extreme DISADVANTAGE seeing as I rarely train in the gi.

It’s literally like trying to hold a conversation with a microwave. I cant wait to see what kind of excuse Gustavo comes up with when he gets a contract that actually says I will pay him an extra 5k of my own money if he wins and he gets to START MOUNTED on me. This is gonna be fucking incredible”

Butterfly Guard – The best DVD and Digital Instructionals

Butterfly Guard the best dvd and digital instructionals

The one guard you just can’t get around when you do BJJ is the butterfly guard. Gi, No-Gi, large, small beginner, or advanced, everyone will do a version of the butterfly guard at some point. It is just that good, and that easy to play. Or is it? To be honest, there are lots of details and levels to the butterfly guard but the beauty in it is that you can make it work against opponents of all levels without having to focus on all the details. Turning to butterfly guard DVD instructionals is a great way to figure out all kinds of details for every level.

The one thing you will hear from people often is that the butterfly guard is a waste of time and that nobody uses it in competition. Those are the people you want to unfriend. The butterfly guard will rarely be a position you start from, but it is a spot you will use during rolls, and especially during scrambles. This is just one reason to look towards butterfly guard DVD instructionals as a key tool to help you improve your open guard game.

The Best Butterfly Guard DVD Instructionals Collection

The butterfly guard is extremely reliable because it is simple to understand. You use hooks to both prevent people from passing your legs and taking away their balance at the same time. Not many guards can offer the same, without being overly complicated positions that require several years of trial and error to figure out. The biggest plus is probably that you need no athletic ability whatsoever to play the butterfly guard.

However, you still need to fulfill certain mechanical principles in order to make playing the guard a viable possibility. For example, there’s no playing butterfly guard without grips. It doesn’t matter if you have the wrists, elbows, collars, or the head, you need grips. That’s the number one thing to learn about the butterfly guard, before going into stuff like angles, hook placement, and the mechanics of sweeping or hunting for submissions.

In more technical terms, and opposite to contrary belief, you can stay in the butterfly guard while you are supine, it is just not as efficient when you are sitting. So, being seated is preferable, but in no way mandatory when playing the butterfly guard. Another thing to keep in mind is that when you sweep, you need to til to one side so that one of your hooks get the necessary space to stretch and turn your opponent over. The butterfly guard DVD instructionals we feature in this article all containing details on these crucial aspects of the guard. And that is only the beginning.

Football Player Spencer Jones Starts a Fight With a Kid Training in MMA and Gets Beaten up Badly

Spencer Jones in a bar fight with a kid training MMA

Oklahoma RW Spencer Jones got involved in a bar fight with a young guy. According to the media, Spencer Jones was the one who started the fight. Although, it’s pretty unclear who started the fight as we can see that Spencer Jones and a guy he fought with were in some kind of a verbal altercation until the young guy got pushed by a friend of Spencer Jones.

We can’t really say if a young guy saw who pushed him as he was talking to his friend, but that action led to a fight as the young guy punched Spencer, threw him to the ground, mounted him, and tried to apply Rear Naked choke.

The fight between a young guy and spencer was pretty much over at that point, but in the background, we can see a massive suplex into a wall followed by some hard punches coming from the young guy’s brother. He’s named Braden Brown on twitter.

After the video went viral on Twitter Braden Brown replied to a tweet saying that he and his brother had no other options but to defend themselves. He also wrote that they’re involved in MMA since they were 12 years old.
