A few moments ago multiple Jiu-Jitsu Champion Andre Galvalo posted this picture on his Instagram page wearing MMA gloves and with a caption, in Portuguese that reads:
“Guess who I signed a new contract with? #mma”

Andre Galvao is no stranger to the cage as he had a couple of professional MMA fights with a record of 5-2-0 however his last fight was in October of 2010, eleven years ago.
It seems Galvao has signed a multiple fight deal from what he is hinting on Instagram but he did not give us any clues as to what was the organization that he signed this deal with. It seems highly unlikely that he would have signed with the UFC, the organization that has made its name from getting big names from Jiu-Jitsu or retired MMA legends is Bellator MMA.
But we will just have to wait and see what organization Galvao ended up signing with and who will be his opponent inside the cage.
Can Andre Galvao still fight at a high level in MMA?
We know he is still an absolute beast in the Jiu-Jitsu circuit but when he was fighting Andre was not known for his high-level striking and even though in the past anyone with a good base in grappling could succeed at a high level, the MMA game has changed a lot. This new breed of MMA athletes is highly skilled on the feet as well as on the ground.
It will certainly be very interesting to see who they pair Andre Galvao with and how well he does after eleven years away from MMA at 39 years of age.
They will probably look to find someone who can at least hold his own against
the multiple tie Jiu-Jitsu world champion Andre Galvao.
