The Most Anticipated Boxing Match of the 21st Century
Before the legendary showdown that was Tyson vs Paul, we had to endure a tumulous build-up, one that saw the fight get canceled once already. Due to medical issues, Mike Tyson had to pull out of the original fight set for July 20, 2024.
Tyson seems to be more than able to fight at the moment, making weight easily and already providing Paul with a taste of what’s to come in the ring! The fact that Mike Tyson slapped Jake Paul so close to the fight means the tension between the two has really reached boiling point after a long-standing public exchange.
Jake Paul himself is in the shape of his life and took the slap smiling. His brother, YouTuber Logan Paul, however, took to X to voice his opinion on the subject: “My brother got slapped by Mike Tyson, f****** iconic,” tweeted Logan.
“But a grave error This fight just became personal for Jake Tomorrow’s outcome will be utter devastation for Mike; the new face of boxing will be crowned tomorrow” added Logan.
The Tyson vs Paul fight is so big that many expect it to overshadow the UFC 305 event on the same night in Vegas. Despite our love for grappling, after Tyson slaps Jake Paul. we know what we’ll be watching come Friday night!
Can Mike Tyson Handle the Fight?
The million-dollar question is whether or not Iron Mike can get through this fight without dire consequences, given his age and condition, especially compared to Paul. The main concerns are that Tyson is at great risk of brain injury, on account of both his age and lengthy resume of fighting the best of the best in world boxing!
As per Dr. Neil Scott “Cerebral atrophy means there is more space within your head, within your skull, for your brain to move. It means it’s more susceptible, whether that be to the linear, straight back and forward trauma or the rotational shearing forces” declared the doctor to Boxing News.
“It’s those kinds of forces, with having more space in the skull for the brain to move around, that are the concern” according to Dr. Scott. “At the end of the day, the risk factors for Mike Tyson are much higher than they are for Jake Paul. I worry for Mike Tyson in this contest.”
The fight is scheduled for eight two-minute rounds which means Iron Mike will have to spend less time than usual if the fight goes the distance. Whether or not the much-anticipated match will get far beyond the now iconic Tyson slap at the weigh-ins is anyone’s guess.
