Back in 2015, there was a trend of “catching” fake Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts. It looked like everyone wanted to catch their own fake BJJ black belt and film it. Do you think it’s a good thing? I certainly think so!
There are numerous guys around the globe teaching Jiu-Jitsu and all other martial arts with having so little or no martial art knowledge at all. Just look around yourself and I’m sure you know someone like that. We all do. And we all do nothing. We’re just looking at them literally stealing someone’s money and making fools of them. I want this time of catching fake people to come back.
Well, these guys didn’t want to watch it. maybe for their own reasons of self-promotion or they just want a better community but in my opinion, guys catching fake belts have all rights to do it.
Let’s start with 4 fake black belts.
- Mark McMahon. Guys from The BJJ Hour podcast He was Gracie Jiu-Jitsu blue belt at that time but somehow he just appeared to be a black belt. He put a picture on Instagram and that was it. No matter he put the one in blue belts a few weeks before that. He could at least delete the old pic. Very easy way to become a black belt if you ask me.
2. Mike Palladino BJJ brown belt at that time caught Jay Queiroz pretending to be a black belt in Marlboro NY. Check a video of this comedian teaching guys techniques. It’s hilarious.
3. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Ruben Alvarez confronts a person trying to pass as a Black. It was a bit weird that black belt wanted to attend fundamental class right?
4. Ufc Gym in Flowermund Texas did a huge mistake by hiring this guy to teach their BJJ classes. His name is Jeremy Varney and he was exposed by Justin Farwell. You can see in a video that this fake black belt acts like a kid when he got exposed.
At the end of the day, these guys got what they deserve. But what’s with the rest of them? How many of these guys are still there in our neighborhood pretending to be something that they’re not? How many mislead kids are still training at those gyms thinking they’re doing the right thing? Go out and expose these guys. We want this trend to come back as soon as possible.
