Buakaw vs. Saenchai Bare Knucke Fight Officially On

Buakaw vs. Saenchai Bae Knuckle Fight Official
Buakaw Banchamek and Suphachai “Saenchai” Saepong, two of the biggest names in Muay Thai have officially agreed and signed the contract for a base knuckle Muay Thai fight at BKFC. Buakaw vs. Saenchai is set for March 18, 2023 and will be held under “special rules”.

Buakaw Banchamek (40), 2X K-1 World Max champion made his long-awaited bare-knuckle boxing debut in September at BKFC Thailand 3, defeating Erkan Varol. Now, the increasingly popular promotion finally managed to secure the signing of Bukaw’s greatest “friendly rival” Suphachai “Saenchai” Saepong, a four-division Lumpinee Boxing Stadium champion for the very first Buakaw vs. Saenchai meeting inside the ring!

Buakaw vs. Saenchai, which is set to be 42-year-old Senchai’s debut in the BKFC is going to be nothing short of a spectacle, given both fighter’s records (241-24-12, 74 KOs – Buakaw, 27-49-2, 41 KOs – Saenchai).

This is going to be the first instance of Buakaw vs. Saenchai in a ring. We’ve seen the two spar before, but a fight between them has never happened.

According to David Feldman, President of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship: “Once we started working with ‘Buakaw’ and ‘Saenchai’ earlier this year, it became very apparent how big of an international, game-changing event this [Buakaw vs. Saenchai] would be for combat sports,”

They’ve both had legendary careers and competed in many of the most exciting Muay Thai fights in history. Combat sports fans have always had very strong opinions about who would win, now they’re going to take the gloves off and finally settle their score.”

The venue and city of the Buakaw vs. Saenchai event are still not decided, with BKFC hoping to announce them soon. For now, it is certain that it will take place somewhere in the Middle East.

We’re working on solidifying the site and targeting a location in the Middle East which we will announce shortly,” Feldman said.

The fourth quarter this year is huge for BKFC with numerous events all over the world, however, the upcoming announcements we have for 2023 will make headlines in the sports and entertainment world throughout the year.”

Nate Diaz Stockton Slaps Jake Paul Team Member

Nate Diaz slaps jake paul team member
During the much-publicized boxing match between Jake paul vs. Anderson Silva which happened last night (Oct. 29), Nate Diaz, who was in the audience was caught on video using his signature Stockton slap on a member of Jake Paul’s team and instigating a brawl backstage.

Nate Diaz was in the crowd at the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva match, cheering for a teammate Chris Avila who fought in the undercard. Traveling with an entourage as well, and known for being outspoken and trigger-happy when it comes to slaps, it is no surprise that it did not take long for his team to get into a brawl with team Paul.

The two teams got into it backstage, with video footage showing Nate’s signature Stockton slap put to use once more. The situation quickly escalated into a brawl, with people from both teams throwing objects at each other and security trying to intervene and break it up.

This brawl happened as Jake Paul was walking out for his match with Silva, which he won via unanimous decision (77-74, 78-73, 78-73), knocking Silva down to the canvas in the last round.

After the match, Paul was quick to call Nate Diaz out, seemingly aware of the brawl that happened earlier:

I want Nate Diaz, who’s a b—ch,” Paul said. “He tried to come into my locker room. He tried to cause some shit. And then he always leaves the f—king arena. So Nate Diaz, stop being a b—ch and fight me.

At that point, Nate Diaz was no longer in the arena, since police recorded him out after the brawl.

With Diaz, a free agent and no longer bound by a UFC contract, a match against the influencer who is 6-0 as a professional boxer might not be a such far-fetched idea, particularly given the financial aspects of it.

Danaher After Training With Tom Hardy: He’s Talented

Tom Hardy Trains Jiu-Jitsu with John Danaher
John Danaher trained with mega-popular actor Tom Hardy who has been not just actively training, but competing at BJJ as a blue belt and had nothing but praise for the English actor’s grappling abilities.

Two of the world’s greatest celebrities in their respective niches, Tom Hardy in acting and John Danaher in Jiu-Jitsu met up for a training session on the mats. John Danaher later shared his impressions of the joint training session in one of his trademark Instagram posts.

Jiu-jitsu with Mr Tom Hardy: The team had a blast training the last two days with the great English actor Tom Hardy, who is also a talented Jiu-Jitsu player!!” wrote Danaher. “Mr. Hardy is here with some of his British Special Forces friends. Mr. Hardy does truly great work helping the welfare of former soldiers coming back from war into civilian life through the @reorgcharity foundation.

Jiu-jitsu is often useful as a means of getting soldiers back together in a healthy environment that builds the old camaraderie they had in a civilian setting and can help smooth the transition back home. I’ve always been a fan of Mr. Hardy’s cinematic work after Georges St Pierre, who was obsessed with The Batman movie in which the Caped Crusader takes on arch-villain Bane (played by Mr. Tom Hardy), used to quote endlessly from the movie during fight camps! When I was demonstrating technique with him I kept expecting him to say “do you feel in charge?” – as he grabbed me by the neck! 😂😂 He is a very kind man and a really great representative of jiu-jitsu.”

Tom Hardy also trained with Renzo Gracie and Rayron Gracie, thanking the Renzo Gracie Academy for the experience in an Instagram post of his own.

After winning gold at three tournaments in a row as a blue belt, Tom Hardy is preparing two enter two more in December, already signed up for the No Gi Jiu Jitsu British Open on December 3, and for Grappling Industries: London on December 11.

The 45-year-old is set to compete at Master 3 in IBJJF and Senior at Grappling Industries and will try his luck in both Gi and No-Gi.

Danielle Kelly vs Sambo Champ Molchanova In One

Danielle Kelly vs. Sambo Champion Molchanova in ONE FC
Danielle Kelly, one of the best up-and-coming blackbelt female grapplers is set to face Russian multiple Sambo champion Mariia Molchanova for the atomweight submission grappling belt in yet another BJJ vs.Sambo matchup.

Karl “Silverfox” Pravec black belt Danielle Kelly is ready for her second grappling match under the ONE FC banner. In her first outing, Kelly beat the experienced Mei Yamaguchi, earning her first ONE grappling victory and a performance bonus. Technically speaking, Danielle Kelly drew the match but was so obviously dominant that she earned a $50.000 bonus for her performance.

Now, for the first time since March 2022, she is set to enter the ONE cage again, this time to face Russian Sambo champion Mariia Molchanova in a clash of grappling styles, which seems to be a trend in ONE FC at the moment.

Her opponent, Mariia Molchanova is a very experienced grappler, holding two Sambo world titles and several European ones.

The matchup between Danielle Kelly and Mariia Molchanova is yet another in what seems to be a friendly rivalry (for now), instigated by ONE FC, to figure out which grappling style is better, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Sambo.

So far, ONE champion Mikey Musumeci has requested to fight any Sambo world champion and has gotten one such champion to respond to his request, although it is not known whether ONE FC is considering this.

Just a week ago we saw Kade Ruotolo easily defeat a 4x Sambo World champion Uali Kurzhev for the lightweight ONE submission grappling belt. Prior to that match, BJJ black belt Rodrigo Marello submitted Smabo stand-out Ruslan Bagdasarian with the fastest-ever submission in ONE history (via ankle lock).

There is a clear pattern here that ONE CEO, Chatri Sityodtong, is following in trying to determine the best grappling styles, and we’re eager to see where it leads.

Danielle Kelly is well versed in leg locks, given her Renzo Gracie lineage, so that more or less makes her equal in regard to Sambo’s greatest perceived threat to BJJ athletes. Molchanova’s standing prowess will definitely be a test for Kelly, though.

Danielle Kelly is aware of the difference in styles and respects the abilities of Sambo athletes very much telling MMA Super Fan in an interview:

I mean, I will say if I’m a Sambo person you have to respect the sport of Jiu-Jitsu but I feel like since I’m in Jiu-Jitsu there’s a lot of sambo people saying: “Sambo is much better than Jiu-Jitsu”, or: “Sambo beats Jiu-Jitsu people.”

The bout is set to take place in Singapore, on November 18, as part of ONE on Prime Video 4.

“I Will Rip His Head Off And Mail It” Gasanov on Tonon

Gasanov calls out Tonon I will rip his head off
Shamil “Cobra” Gasanov, the ONE featherweight MMA prospect has replied to recent taunts by Garry Tonon claiming that he can rip Tonon’s head off. Both fighters are on the ONE FC roster, and a match between them looks more and more like reality rather than wishful thinking

Coming off a Convincing submission win over Kim Jae Woong at ONE on Prime Video 3, Shamil Gasanov called out #2 ranked featherweight Garry Tonon immediately. The Russian is hungry and determined, plus he seems to have a personal beef with Tonon.

Gasanov called Tonon out in his ONE on Prime Video 3 post-fight interview. to which , Tonon tweeted in response to Shamil calling him out by saying:

[Shamil Cobra] says  I don’t last 5 minutes with him. Do I succumb to the Russian mixed martial arts invasion, or do I break his leg off, use it to fly our flag, and make Ronald Reagan and the American people proud?”

Shamil has not taken this lightly, threatening to rip Tonon’s head off:

[Tonon] is nothing more than an American trash talker. If he thinks he can break off my leg, I can rip his head off and mail it back to the States after the fight.”

Tonon lost to Than Le in their March 2022 title fight, getting his first loss on his now 6-1 professional MMA record. Since then, he faced Tye Ruotolo in ONE submission grappling, losing to the young phenom via a Darce choke in under 2 minutes.

The way Fasanov sees it is that he is doing “shelved” Tonon a favor by calling him out publically:

He should be grateful people are talking about him now. He should thank me. ONE has put him on the shelf, forgot about him already. If he wants to come back, I will help him retire.”

Gasanov currently holds a 13-0 professional MMA record and is the #5 ranked featherweight in ONE FC.

Aikido vs Grappling – Fantasy vs Reality – Wrestler vs Aikidoka

Aikido vs Grappling - Fantasy vs Reality

Aikido is a wonderful art that you can really enjoy training at any age. It’s like Yoga and if you fall in love with it it can make you happy. But, using Aikido in a self defense is not practical at all. It’s been tested for numerous times and it proved that Aikido simply doesn’t work against most martial arts today. Especially grappling martial arts.

In this video we can see Aikido instructor in a grappling match against Turkish wrestler.

Martial Arts Tournament In Ukrainian Nuclear Bunker

Ukraine martial arts tournament in underground bunker
As the war continues in Ukraine, underground nuclear bunkers from the 1960s are being used to host martial arts tournaments just a stone throw’s away from Russian occupying forces. A hand-to-hand combat tournament took place just last weekend in the town of Kryvyi Rih.

Kryvyi Rih is a town in the south of war-ravaged Ukraine. With Russian forces pushed back to just an hour away from the town by the Ukrainian counter-offensive, and lights flickering on and off as the Russians attempt to disrupt Ukraine’s power grid ahead of the cold winter months, a martial arts tournament brings a sense of normalcy to the small town.

The martial arts tournament, featuring a form of hand-to-hand combat similar to Japanese Ju-Jitsu, took place in a soviet era underground nuclear bunker. The tournament provides not just entertainment and competition, but a much-needed physical outlet for the kids who have been stuck at home following online classes.

The bunker hosts many other events, like pop concerts and comedy shows, with the town’s deputy mayor Sergiy Miliutin claiming that many Ukrainian stars have come to perform at the bunker, providing the small steel-producing town with a bit of entertainment and relief. The martial arts tournament was the first sports event in Kryvyi Rih since the start of the war.

Despite the ever more frequent air raid sirens warning of Russian attacks, life at the underground bunker seems normal, with the martial arts tournament in full effect. Kids with headgear, gloves, and Gis are trading shots, takedowns, and grappling on the ground, all in the quest of winning a medal and standing on the small bunker podium.  Their parents, looking exhausted and barely standing were cheering them from the sidelines.

Psychologically, it is important for the children to see that the grown-ups have not forgotten about them,” coach Anatoliy Voloshyn, the person in charge of the event,  told AFP. “They haven’t been to school in months. They needed to feel like they matter again.”

Everyone is very cheerful down here,” Voloshyn said. “It’s as if there were no war.”

Deputy mayor Sergiy Miliutin says that people are used to the sounds of sirens after the first few months, and the martial arts tournament was a welcome distraction, However, he asks for people to stay vigilant as the war is not over yet.

We keep constantly reminding people — please, please, please, don’t relax,” said Miliutin.

John Danaher: This Is My Greatest Failure

John Danaher: My Greatest Failiure
John Danaher states that one of the greatest failures of his career is that he hasn’t got a female student that has reached championship status, at least thus far. He says he would love to remedy this, claiming that a female champion from his team New Wave Jiu-Jitsu is inevitable.

John Danaher has one area of his coaching career that he proclaims is a failure to date. In a recent interview given to Jiujitera magazine, the legendary coach was asked about the reason why there hasn’t been a Danaher female world champion yet, to which he answered in his own unique style:

On the face of it, one of the great failures of my career, thus far, is that I’ve never produced a female champion. And it’s natural to ask me: “Why?

Part of the answer is that I never engage into recruiting; I never actively “pull” people to the gym… I open the door and whoever comes, I teach. So, it tends to be a self-selected group of people that I teach.

And the door is open two ways; to walk in and to walk out, and a lot of people walk out. My teaching style isn’t for everybody. Some people like it, some people don’t.”

Danaher also said that he never pushes people to compete, nor does he favor any one group of students offer another, regardless of sex:

In the gym itself, there is a pretty high number of females. But I never push people to compete. I was never the coach that would say: “Hey man, you’re good! You gotta go out and compete.” I’ve literally never said that. I never recruit and I never tell people they have to compete.

And so what happens is that the people who compete, always do so by their own volition. So, I do have many female students. Some of them do compete, but I don’t actively push them to compete.”

As John Danaher puts it, a Danaher-related female grappling champion is only a matter of time:

I do believe that, inevitably in the future – as the number of female athletes increase – we will start seeing female champions. But I have never actively pushed for any one group of people to succeed in competition. So, it’s been a self-selecting process.

The females who train with me are already achieving a good level of competence and one day they’re going to be successful in competition

Was TJ Dillashaw Right To Fight Injured?

TJ Dillashaw fighting injured
TJ Dillashaw decided to fight Aljamain Sterling at UFC 280 despite knowing that he had a serious injury, with his shoulder popping out repeatedly and very noticeably throughout the fight. TJ, understandably, lost the bout but stirred the MMA community’s pot raising the question of whether it is fair to fans and opponents for a fighter to fight with such a serious injury.

UFC 280 had lots of interesting and entertaining fights, unforgettable moments, and of course, its unavoidable share of UFC controversies. One such controversy was the bout between TJ Dillashaw and Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight title.

TJ Dillashaw vs. Aljamain Sterling

TJ Dillashaw is a tough SOB, that much is clear to everyone. It seems, though that the 36-year-old fighter thought he had something to prove, entering the co-main event with a detached shoulder that he knew full well was going to stop him from performing to his best, if at all.

Commentators noticed that TJ’s shoulder was dislocated, and as the corner cam followed him during a break, it became apparent from the communication with his team that they all knew about it. He just asked them to put it back in so he could keep on fighting.

TJ lost the fight via a TKO, and the fact that he fought without the use of one of his arms, and most likely, in lots of pain, takes nothing away from young Aljamain’s victory.

In the post-fight interview, TJ Dillashaw shared that he dislocated is shoulder during camp and that it had popped out on 20 different occasions leading up to the fight.

When Is A Fighter Too Injured To Fight?

We’ve repeatedly seen fighters inside the octagon fight with ears torn off, broken fingers and toes, and fractured hands. Yet, all these were injuries sustained in the fight itself. Is it really smart for a fighter to engage in a professional MMA fight with a serious orthopedic injury though, and when is a fighter too injured to be effective in such a match?

In the aftermath of TJ Dillashaw’s performance, Cub Swanson, who worked with TJ in preparation for the event shared: “When I worked with TJ about 5-6 weeks before this fight he couldn’t even lift his left arm….it’s the truth

He also tried to justify the actions of TJ Dillashaw, by tweetingWhy do fighters fight injured? Because we are crazy and always believe we can win. Also we are taught to push thru pain and to always seize an opportunity.”

Unfortunately, not everyone sees it from Swanson’s perspective. Anthony Smith, ranked #5 at light heavyweight, sees TJ is to blame for “selling wolf tickets”. During his appearance on Michael Bisping’s “Believe You Me” podcast, Smith said he was disappointed with TJ Dillashaw for his actions.

“I’ll be honest with you, I’m a little bit disappointed in TJ Dillashaw as a person,” Lionheart” said. “He sold us all wolf tickets and had everyone super excited for a fight that — I don’t care what anybody says, you can’t lie to yourself. In all your fight buildup and all the stuff you said to other people, you had to look at yourself in the face in the mirror and know what you’re capable of, and what the chances were that that was going to happen.

It sounded like a money grab, to be 100% honest with you. There’s no way if his shoulder went out that easy on that takedown and went out 20 times in training camp, there’s no way you were gonna beat Aljamain Sterling.”

While some praised TJ Dillashaw for his bravery, which is undoubted, others took Smith’s side in claiming it would’ve been better for TJ, the fans, whoever was in line to replace him against Sterling, and Aljamain himself if Dillashaw opted out of the fight.

What is your take on things?

Gordon Ryan Losing Money Over Website Dispute

Gordon Ryan Losing Money OVer WEbsite
Gordon Ryan is about to start engaging in legal battles with a business partner whom he trusted to lead his website and all sales going through it, according to a post the “King” made on his Instagram account. Ryan claims that at the moment he has no control over more than $100.000 worth of merchandise.

The undisputed best grappler in the world, Gordon Ryan is having some serious financial and logistical trouble off the mats. His brand, built around the Gordon “King” Ryan persona, is taking a massive hit as one of Ryan’s “friends”, who was responsible for his website and all of his merchandise is refusing to allow the ADCC star access to his site or his products.

In an Instagram video, Ryan stated that the person in charge of taking orders and fulfilling them through his website has stopped all activities, and refuses to allow Ryan or anyone else access to the site. The merchandise in question, in the form of Ryan’s book, supplements, and the like, stored in a Texas storage unit is also inaccessible to anyone.

In the video, Gordon states: “I have to address something unfortunate, I’m not going to go into too much detail right now. I had a ‘friend of mine‘ who asked me to help build a website for me to get the books out, sell the supplements, and stuff like that.

Long story short, there’s been an internal dispute and it now turns out that I have no access to my website, merchandise, supplements, books, or anything related to my website. He has yet to hand over the keys to the website or anything. I literally have no control over this.”

In the caption of the post, Gordon went on to apologize to fans who have ordered and asked all other fans not to order anything, until he gets things sorted out in court and makes a new website. He also promised to make it up to his fans once everything is sorted out:

I am sorry to everyone that may have ordered something from my website. I have no control over my website or my merch/supps/books. The guy who was supposed to run it all for me has declined to give me the website info and access to the merchandise so this is all out of my control for the moment. A deep apology to the fans and I promise I’ll make this up to you guys♥️. For now stop buying stuff from my website because you’re order won’t come. I’m sorry guys.”
