110lbs Teen With 2 Years Of BJJ Training Perfectly Defends Himself Against 190lbs Attacker

@tonytone71sf’s son started training Gracie Jiu-Jitsu a few years ago after getting bullied in 6th grade. Recently he was attacked by a much larger opponent and the altercation was recorded. Even though his opponent wasn’t 300lbs, this gives you a great idea of how different a fight looks when the smaller person knows basic jiu-jitsu principles of punch protection and distance management. Bottom line: 80lbs smaller and was able to fully neutralize the attacker without throwing a single punch.

Andre Galvao Making a Comeback in MMA?

Andre Galvao Making a Comeback in MMA?

A few moments ago multiple Jiu-Jitsu Champion Andre Galvalo posted this picture on his Instagram page wearing MMA gloves and with a caption, in Portuguese that reads:

“Guess who I signed a new contract with? #mma”

A post shared by Andre Galvao Official (@galvaobjj)

Andre Galvao is no stranger to the cage as he had a couple of professional MMA fights with a record of 5-2-0 however his last fight was in October of 2010, eleven years ago.

It seems Galvao has signed a multiple fight deal from what he is hinting on Instagram but he did not give us any clues as to what was the organization that he signed this deal with. It seems highly unlikely that he would have signed with the UFC, the organization that has made its name from getting big names from Jiu-Jitsu or retired MMA legends is Bellator MMA.

But we will just have to wait and see what organization Galvao ended up signing with and who will be his opponent inside the cage.

Can Andre Galvao still fight at a high level in MMA?

We know he is still an absolute beast in the Jiu-Jitsu circuit but when he was fighting Andre was not known for his high-level striking and even though in the past anyone with a good base in grappling could succeed at a high level, the MMA game has changed a lot. This new breed of MMA athletes is highly skilled on the feet as well as on the ground.

It will certainly be very interesting to see who they pair Andre Galvao with and how well he does after eleven years away from MMA at 39 years of age.

They will probably look to find someone who can at least hold his own against
the multiple tie Jiu-Jitsu world champion Andre Galvao.

The Top 10 heavyweight contenders at ADCC East Coast Trials

The Top 10 heavyweight contenders at ADCC East Coast Trials

In a previous post, we covered some of the top names registered for the ADCC East Coast trials which will take place in Atlantic City, NJ November 6-7. Those who win in each division will go on to qualify for the famous ADCC Worlds in Las Vegas, September 2022.

There are over 550 athletes registered for this top-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu event
but here are the top 10 names that you should look out for during this year’s East
Coast Trials at heavyweight:

Top 10 heavyweights at ADCC 2021 East Coast Trials:

Mason Fowler – Brasa CTA

A veteran of the ADCC Worlds in 2019 after beating five high-level opponents to get there. An undefeated MMA fighter with a record of 6-0 Mason Fowler is a phenomenal wrestler and has dominant top control. At 99kg he is definitely one of the names to watch in these East Coast Trials.

Jacob Couch – Pedigo Submission Fighting

Nicknamed “The Hillbilly Hammer” Jacob is an exciting guy to watch. With impressive wins over Roberto Jimenez and William Tackett at the WNO Championship and continued to submit all of his opponents on his way to a gold medal at No-Gi Worlds. At 88kg he is dangerous wherever the fight takes place is primarily known for leg locks but adept at finishing guys with user or lower body submissions.

Paul Ardila – American Top Team

A two-time ADCC Worlds veteran, Paul Ardila is a dominant submission specialist that fits the style of the ADCC perfectly. At 99kg he is explosive and dominant to the point that in the 2017 West coast trials he did not concede a single point to his opponents. We are excited to see what he can do this year.

Elder Cruz – Checkmat

Elder Cruz is a guy that has been on an absolute tear as of late. He won gold at the No-Gi Worlds and closed out in the open weight class. Being nicknamed “El Monstro” (The Monster) Cruz has impressive explosiveness this his wrestling and has a scary top game that can tear through the entire 88kg division.

Devhonte Johnson – Unity

Devhonte Johnson is fairly new to the ADCC ruleset however he shows a ton of promise as this year alone he took home gold at this year’s No-Gi Pans and No-Gi Worlds. A gold medal at the East Coast Trials would make him the top guy in all the mayor No-Gi tournaments. With impressive wins over ADCC veterans Eliot Kelly, Felipe Andrew, and Mike Perez he has shown that he is a force to be retconned with at 99kg.

John Salter – Shawn Hammonds

A middleweight title contender with Bellator MMA, John Is also an ADCC Worlds veteran as he earned gold in the 2017 North American Trials. In his tear towards the 2017 gold, he defeated ADCC veterans DJ Jackson and Josh Hinger. At 88kg John Slater has the technical ability and explosiveness that makes it extremely hard to score on him, currently, Jahn holds the Belabor record for the most submission wins in league history.

Alec Baulding – Alliance

Another ADCC Worlds veteran in 2018 Alec Baulding won the gold with impressive victories over guys like Kyle Boehm and Roberto Jimenez among others. The ADCC ruleset has proven to be where he feels most comfortable with his heavy wrestling style. At 88kg Alec is one of the names to look out for this year.

John Hansen – Axios

John Hansen made it all the way to the finals of the +99kg division during the 2019 West Coast Trials losing in the final to Nick Rodriguez. Since then he has earned a spot on the podium of the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds and No-Gi Pans during 2020 and 2021.

Giancarlo Bodoni – New Wave Jiu-Jitsu

With an amazing ability for back takes and wrestling Giancarlo Bodoni’s style is great for the ADCC ruleset. Under the tutelage of the legendary coach John Danaher, Giancarlo now has had the chance to prepare for this event specifically all year. Though his record of late has not been impressive a win in this event at 88kg would help him start to cement his legacy.

Joe Baize – OCBJJ

Being the oldest name on this list Joe Baize often is underestimated but he is a two-time ADCC Worlds veteran and a dangerous leg locker. In the +99kg division, those who underestimate him often end up on the losing end.

In conclusion

This year’s ADCC East Coast Trials are going to be stacked with talent and we can’t wait to see what happens.

How To Increase Your Cardio for Jiu-Jitsu

How To Increase Your Cardio for Jiu-Jitsu

When it comes to Jiu-Jitsu one of the things that everyone values and wants to
improve stamina. When your stamina is low you tend to slow down and start
conceding positions because you feel tired, but when your stamina is high you
have the edge and you can seriously push the pace on your opponents.

But how do you actually increase your cardio for BJJ?

When most people think about increasing their cardio they often think about running, riding a bicycle, or jumping rope and though this can be helpful it’s not enough to help you increase your stamina for Jiu Jitsu.

I won’t get too technical here in order to keep it simple but there are basically two types of resistance that our body uses to participate in any kind of physical activity.

Anaerobic resistance, which involves the use of oxygen as a fuel source, and anaerobic resistance uses glycogen from the muscles as a fuel source. Some sports use mainly anaerobic activity such as soccer, sprinting, or running while others use mostly anaerobic resistance such as weightlifting. Birazilian Jiu Jitsu uses both of them pretty evenly, which is why just running or jumping rope is not enough to increase your stamina for BJJ.

So how to Increase your Stamina for Jiu-Jitsu?

While many high-level guys say “just roll” and for the most part that is very sound advice, if you are reading this it’s probably because you want to have an advantage over your training partners and your opponents. In order to do that you absolutely must roll and push yourself while doing so but you can also complement your training with other exercises to significantly increase your overall stamina and gain the edge, you need to dominate on the mats.

Before we go into this though I must say that this article is not intended as a cure-all or a strict set of rules because every person is different and you must adapt the advice contained on this page to whatever fits your needs. I don’t know how old you are, what your level of overall physical condition is, how well you sleep or your eating habits so I can’t tell you exactly what’s the best for you but I can give you a rough outline that you can customize and make your own.

Now that we got that out of the way… There are going to be 3 specific areas that we are going to be focusing on outside of your BJJ training, which should be constant in order to get the desired outcome:

High-Intensity training

One of the best ways to complement your BJJ training in order to increase your stamina is to include about three times a week a session of High-Intensity Interval Training or HIIT for Jiu-Jitsu. These exercises include very explosive movements such as burpees or mountain climbers in order to push your aerobic and anaerobic capacities. As to the specific exercises, there are plenty of great resources available on YouTube for free, or get a personal trainer to give you a routine tailored to your needs. You should not do this every single day though because that will interfere with the next area we are going to be focusing on in order to increase your stamina.

Recovery

Recovery is just as important as training itself yet most people don’t prioritize it and they end up paying the consequences. In order to recover there are many things, you can do such as regular massages, cryotherapy, ice tubs, yoga, etc. But few are better and more important than a good night’s sleep. In order for you to do that you need to prioritize getting enough hours of sleep which for most adults will be an average of seven and a half hours of sleep per night. For some, it may be more and for others less but it is not really about just the amount of hours you sleep but about the quality of said sleep.

The way you get quality sleep is through making sure that your body has everything it needs to get a good night’s sleep and nothing interferes with your sleep cycle. In order to do that you need to make sure you are setting up your room to the right temperature, making your room as dark as possible or wearing a mask, no alcohol at least two hours before bed, and no caffeine six hours before going to sleep. High-level athletes will need to take naps though to cope with the number of hours trained per day so if you’re training more than four hours a day you will need to also take naps to recover properly. And last but not least…

Nutrition

Experts can’t seem to agree on what good nutrition looks like but one thing is for certain and that is the one thing all experts agree on. You need to cut out processed foods and increase your consumption of fruits, vegetables, and legumes. When you eat a clean diet with lots of plant foods and cut out oils and processed sugars your blood flows faster and easier through the body, taking oxygen and nutrients to the muscles that need them when you’re on the mats. If you have the right fuel in your body you will have more energy, more strength, and more endurance.

Does that mean you need to become a monk and eat nothing but rice and veggies every day without ever enjoying food? Not at all! It just means you take care of your eating habits, you can still have a burger and some ice cream on the weekends or once every two weeks, just don’t make it a daily habit.

For this, though you will have to cook meals yourself as most take-out places
have dishes that will either contain too much fat, sugar, salt, or all three.
If you don’t have time to cook, prepare your meals for the week ahead of time
and stick them in the fridge.

In conclusion

Once again adapt this to your own needs and you will see a dramatic increase in
your Jiu-Jitsu stamina. Hope you found this helpful.

Guy Tries to Bully a Girl, Unaware of Her 6 Years of BJJ and MMA Training

Guy Bullies Girl But He Didn't Know She Has 6 Years of MMA Training

The guy on video was bullying a girl online until she confronted him in front of the school they both attend, California’s Sonoma Valley High School.

He doused her with water, but he didn’t know she had 6 years of BJJ training in a school that offers MMA training too.

She put her training to the test and it ended up pretty bad for her bully.

While confrontations and bullying between males and females are pretty rare, this girl knew what she was doing and she used it to stand up to her bully.

We don’t encourage anyone to get into a fight, but sometimes you have no other choice, but to face your bully. So, training martial arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, or any kind of REAL martial art can really save someone in real-life situations if there’s no other way out.

In this situation, it’s hard to tell whether this girl could just go away and call someone for help, as that’s probably the best option in any real-life confrontation, but we can see that she was quite aware of her abilities.

What happened later is that the girl actually ran away probably feeling guilty for what she did. The problem lies in the fact that even if you defend yourself while you’re registered in training martial arts you can be sued for using it. In some countries, martial artists can be charged like they were using cold weapons.

UFC 267 Results: Glover Teixeira Submits Jan Blachowicz and Becomes UFC Champion Two Days After His 42. Birthday

Glover Teixeira Submits Jan Blachowicz and Becomes UFC Champion Two Days After His 42. Birthday

The main fight of the evening for the light heavyweight belt was led by Jan Blachowicz (29-9) and Glover Teixeira (33-7) in which Glover became the new champion after less than two rounds.

Round 1: Glover takes the center of the octagon and soon took the champion down. Glover ended on top, but he didn’t do any real harm from there. Teixeira controlled the fight on the ground until the end of the first round, and that’s how the first round ended.

Round 2: At the beginning of the second round, the fighters, fortunately for Jan, are back on their feet and now Blachowicz is much more careful. Jan started to combine well, after which he defended a new attempt of a takedown and continued the fight on his feet. He hit Glover with a great combination and seemed to have a fight where he wanted it. Glover was looking to clinch Jan but he ended up with his face up the fence with Blachowicz on his back. It didn’t take long and they were soon in the middle of the Octagon. Jan was now ready with the takedown defense and did not allow himself to be surprised, but he got surprised by one beautiful Glover’s left hook right in his chin. Jan was shaken, but he got into an open fight and hit Glover several times. Still, that upheaval resulted in a new opportunity to demolish, and Teixeira took advantage of it. In Jan’s attempt to get out, a Brazilian came up behind him, slipped his hand under his neck, and squeezed. The light heavyweight division got a new champion, Glover Teixeira.

(VIDEO) The Real MMA Fights of Men vs Women Organized in Poland. Martial Arts Community is Shocked!

Several times so far we have had the opportunity to see a man’s MMA fight against a woman. Mostly it was in the form of some show or rather “freak show” and sometimes simply in the form of an exhibition. It would be unequal fights in which women would have a great starting advantage and everything, despite the fact that it is quite meaningless, was actually of an experimental nature. Until the Polish MMA promotion, MMA-VIP decided to take it to the next level. We are not in the least surprised that the Poles did something like that.

Although some well-known portals reported the news of only one fight, where they did not provide any information, even incorrectly stating that the event took place in Russia, it was very easy to find out that it was an MMA-VIP 3 event held yesterday. found two such struggles. After all, you can see the poster posted on their Facebook page.

That fight that shocked the MMA community, which you can see through the various tweet divisions you have the opportunity to look at a bit below in the article, was the co-title fight of the show. It featured Ula Siekacz, a girl whose Instagram profile shows that she does fitness, Crossfit, and arm wrestling. Her opponent was Polish TikToker and a make-up artist known by the nickname Mua Boy. And the confrontation itself was a “cringe.” Unfortunately, there is no good Croatian translation of that English word, which would describe well what we saw.

We don’t know much about the fight, except that Mua Boy celebrated with a break in the second round, ground n ‘pound, as we can see in the video that is spreading like wildfire on Twitter.

As we’ve already mentioned, the Twitter community is shocked by what they’ve seen and many have shared the video expressing outrage that someone allowed it. And what would have happened if such people had researched a little more and discovered that another fight of the same type had been held at the same event?

It featured Michael Przybylowicz, about whom the nickname “Polish Ken” speaks volumes. In short, a young man who looks like a twice smaller version of Neven Ciganović fought against a certain Viktorija Domzalska. And that fight ended with the victory of the male competitor at the very beginning of the fight, quite convincingly.

Honestly, we don’t know what to add to this, except to conclude that various fights in Poland have never been more popular and that there is nobody that would regulate what is within normal and tolerable limits and what is not. And we won’t be surprised to see something even crazier than this in the near future.

Estevan ”The Giant Slayer” Martinez shows his skill and bravery!

Estevan ”The Giant Slayer” Martinez shows his skill and bravery!

Estevan Martinez is also known as “The Giant Slayer” is one of the names that has been making waves in the entire Jiu-Jitsu community due to his impressive skill and fearlessness against bigger opponents.

Measuring at 4ft 9’ and weighing 145 pounds almost all of his opponents are bigger than him but that does not stop him one bit as he is always pushing the pace and going aggressively forward during his matches as you can see here in his match against 6ft 3’ Aaron Wilson at 3CG 8.

Martinez also added another important milestone to his resume this year by winning

gold at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds in an impressive fashion.

And soon he will also be competing in this year’s ADCC East Coast Trials this November, which is an event you won’t want to miss and the name Estevan Martinez continues to generate excitement.

Is Estevan confirmation that Gracies created the best martial art for the little guy in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Is his skill a result of knowledge of techniques or is it a result of his top-level conditioning and explosiveness? I personally would make an argument that it is both.

There has always been debate about whether or not BJJ is the best martial art for smaller and weaker people. On one hand, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu does offer a large number of techniques to overpower and submit bigger opponents but as the grandmaster, Helio once said a stronger man without is already a blue belt but a stronger man with Jiu-Jitsu is unstoppable.

Estevan Martinez may be the exception to that rule but make no mistake, he is not by any means weaker as his ability to explode and pass people’s guards can only be the product of intense strength and cardiovascular training.

Logan Paul Hits a Guy for Asking Him “are you a pu**y”

Logan Paul Hit Guy in Front of the club

Logan Paul came back in the media and public spotlight a few days ago after rumors have started that he will do a match against Mike Tyson. The man who actually started the YouTube boxing mania made big money with his exhibition against Floyd Mayweather Jr., and now he will try the same against perhaps the most popular boxer in history.

Logan, unlike his brother Jake, has no professional ambitions in his plans, his earnings are in the foreground and he actually does it very well.

What he doesn’t handle well are the criticisms, especially those directed from ordinary passers-by or fans. Thus, at the press conference before the match with Mayweather, he almost dealt with one man from the audience, and according to the latest recordings, we can conclude that this would have happened if he could have approached that person.

The situation mentioned in the paragraph above happened in front of a nightclub when Logan came out to share some autographs and talk to the fans who came to see him. The problem arose when one of the passers-by presents, with his head lower than him, asked him if he was a “pu**y”. Logan reacted to this by approaching him, grabbing him, turning him around, and then hitting him a few times, which we can see in the video below.

Logan was accompanied by his friend Mike Majlak, with whom he hosts a podcast. He first separated Logan and the passer-by, then pushed him away several times, and then ordered the guards to remove him from the scene.

Regardless of the fact that Logan was obviously under the strong influence of alcohol, such escapades show a problem with ego control, which he might need to address.
