Overeem Shocks Americans With a Statement About Professional Wrestling: “it’s lame, stupid, makes no sense…”

Alistair Overeem on Pro Wrestling

Recently, the UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem expressed his personal opinion on the popular American martial arts show.

The first UFC opponent of Alistair Overeem, when he came to UFC for promotion on a penultimate day in 2011, the first UFC opponent of Alistair Overeem was Brock Lesnar. He was one of the biggest stars of professional wrestling, better known in our country as “catchers”. Overeem then convincingly defeated the former UFC champion and started that phase of his career in a great way. He created a stellar status, despite which he still failed to become the champion of the world’s largest MMA promotion.

Lesnar returned to the WWE ring last week after just over a year, while Overeem revealed that he is returning to another ring on October 23rd. Immediately after signing a contract with Glory, Overeem will attack the heavyweight title held by Rico Verhoeven. On that occasion, he was a guest at Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour, who recalled his fight against Lesnar. Helwani asked Reem if he had attended this great event for all “professional wrestling” fans, to which Helwani himself belongs.

“I’ll explain how things are with me. I watched it when I was eight or ten. Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, I was a big fan of those guys. Great and fun, as was Andre The Giant. I stopped watching after that, so I don’t watch from somewhere in 1992, 1993, maybe 1994. And lately, I’ve started watching a little bit on YouTube.Oh my God, that looks pathetic. It’s pathetic what the guys are doing. It’s fake, it’s pathetic, it’s stupid, it’s gay. It makes absolutely no sense, “the Dutchman said, as Helwani expressed disbelief, trying to stop him.

Of course, the American media immediately attacked Overeem because of the word “gay”, that is, how they called it a homophobic outburst. Although there is no doubt that the fans did not have the best “sit” or everything else he said about one of the most popular American types of entertainment.

Realistically, some people find it pointless that something like this is actually called professional wrestling, and they think that the very name belittles real wrestlers. Many will agree, but the Americans called their product that way, at a time when inspired by Mexican “luchadors”, they tried to sell it to the public and more than succeeded. WWE is today one of the most financially secure companies in the United States, and the number of fans is not decreasing, even though it has long been revealed that these are pre-designed and scenario-determined fights.

“It’s pathetic and it’s not a sport at all. It’s bad acting, poor bad acting. I apologize to all the fans, but I’m honest and I give my opinion. Free state, isn’t it? It’s pathetic and that’s why I haven’t watched it for 20 years. Never I didn’t watch Brock where he performed, I never watched CM Punk. When they came to the UFC, I knew they were from the WWE, but I never watched them, “Reem continued, turning to CM Punk, who returned to Pro Wrestling a few weeks ago after a failed UFC adventure:

“Why didn’t anyone warn CM Punk what he was getting into? Of course, he can’t fight in the UFC. You should have been more honest, told him where he was coming from. That guy was mentally devastated in the Octagon. And anyone who watched his WWE performances “I didn’t, but anyone who did could very easily have guessed what would happen to him. It was clear that his UFC experience was going to be very nasty. He could have been seriously injured.”

The Americans will certainly blame Overeem for this, even without what they immediately called a homophobic outburst. Luckily for him, he decided to continue his career at Glory, a promotion that apparently gave up its mission of conquering the American market and dedicated himself to the European one where kickboxing has always had its audience.
