The latest gruesome injury inside the octagon is featherweight Calvin Kattar UFC knee injury. During the bout against Arnold Allen, Kattar landed awkwardly popping his knee, which eventually cost him the fight.
The Calvin Kattar UFC knee injury at UFC Vegas 63 cost the featherweight contender a lot, as he inflicted it himself, after landing very awkwardly from a flying knee attempt. His opponent Arnold Allen, of course, took the advantage, scoring a very important TKO victory in the second round of the fight.
For those that watched the fight live on October 28, it may have been difficult to notice just how serious the knee injury is, but this slow-motion video clearly shows the extent and severity of it. The video is cringeworthy, so consider this to be a clear warning before you hit play.

After a tense start to the main event, Kattar attempted the flying knee which did not go as planned. The Calvin Kattar UFC knee injury was exaggerated by a low kick to the lead leg (the healthy one) delivered by Allen, which forced Kattar to shift his weight to his injured leg. His knee could not take the pressure and seemed to pop completely out, sending the featherweight contender to the canvas.
While there is not much we can take away from Arnold Allen, the Calvin Kattar UFC knee injury put a quick stop to a fight that was very promising and just began to heat up. It is reminiscent of TJ Dillashaw’s recent outing against Aljamain Sterling with one clear difference – TJ went into the fight already injured, whereas Kattar sustained it inside the octagon.
From the looks of it, there is serious damage to the ligaments in Calvin’s knee, which could keep him outside the octagon for a lengthy period of time, derailing his status as one of the top contenders at featherweight.
