Helea Crevar

A 15-year-old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu prodigy fights at Cobrinha BJJ out of Las Vegas, Nevada. She has a ridiculous record for her age; she has 151 fights, 148 wins, and 130 are by submission. She is ranked 5th worldwide for the 145 pounds women’s division with 5 Fight 2 Win Championship belts and 4 Naga Expert belts. She is also a Combat Sports recipient. SIJJF recipient, six times Pan Kids champion.

Born in Las Vegas, she started training Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 8 years old when she stumbled across it at the gym; she used to train in strength and conditioning. Within the first 3 months of training, she knew she wanted to compete. Her first competition was Pan kids.

Since then, she has started to travel to compete in super fights. She was invited to the first one at Fight 2 Win winning by submission in the first all-female card that featured more than 40 girls, and women matches, in January 2021. The first of 3 all-female cards planned for that year. She tries to compete as often as possible in major Jiu-Jitsu competitions such as Jiu-Jitsu World League, IBJJF, and ADCC.

In January 2019, she competed at the Jiu-Jitsu World league adult division at just 12 years old against higher belts dual to the lack of competitors her age and weight class. Her only options were to redraw from competition or compete against higher-ranked opponents at the time.

What is next for the young BJJ prodigy?

Possible training camp for the IBJJF 2022 championship with the New Wave team? She has recently posted pictures of her, John Danaher, and the New Wave team on Instagram. Opening the doors for quite some speculations with her post, the young prodigy has also been quite a fan of Gordan Ryan, a black belt under John Danaher.

Helena plans to compete at the 2022 IBJJF Gi and No-Gi, which will be in Rome from the 11th -the 13th of November. Following a strict training schedule, she also teaches kids at Cobrinha BJJ and launched her instructional DVDs, which can be found at bjjfanatics.com; she will soon be hosting her seminars.

With her unique hairstyle and clothing set for competition, unbelievable submission techniques, agility, and significant defense abilities, she is starting to make much noise in the Jiu-Jitsu world and often competing against much older and more experienced competitors, suffering her last loss more than a year ago by decision.

Only at the beginning of her career Helena has caught many people by surprise. Will she be the next ADCC star? As for now, the youngster can compete at the ADCC 2024. If she qualifies for it, how much of a threat can she be to Ffion Davies, the current 2022 ADCC women’s champ?

Guess we will have to stay tuned until then. Much can and will happen.
