This year’s European, African, Middle East, and North American ADCC trials are in the books and now we have the list of the competitors that will be showing up in the ADCC World Championship, September 2022.
Competitors of this, the most prestigious international No-Gi event, can qualify to enter by wining one of the continental events like this past North American Trials. They can get a direct invitation to participate or they are automatically qualified if they have gotten to the podium during last year’s ADD world Championship.
The qualifying events are not done yet but we now have a list of the winners from the North American and the European trials that will be competing in this year’s ADCC World Championship.
As of now, there are the people who have qualified for the 2022 ADCC Worlds from Europe, Africa, North America, and the Middle East:
European ADCC 2021 Trials Winners
-66kg division winner
Ashley Williams
Originally for the UK, Ashley Williams had tough wins submitting 4 opponents, including ADCC veterans, and a very hard-fought final. He shows a lot of promise going into ADCC Worlds.
-77kg division:
Oliver Taza
Born in Beirut, Lebanon Oliver trains with legendary coach John Danaher and is a two-time ADCC veteran (2017 and 2019). He had a really tough time getting the win showing his unbelievable resilience and toughness. He is someone we should keep an eye on going into the 2020 ADCC Worlds.
-88kg division
Eoghan O’Flanagan
At 25 years old, this Black belt from the UK destroyed the 88kg division by submitting all of his opponents, and some of them in under 30 seconds! He has certainly become a name that we need to watch closely going forward.
-99kg division
Perttu Tepponen
The black belt from Finland is an ADCC veteran and he showed his veteran savvy during the European Trials completely shutting down his opponents’ offense and winning it all by being very smart and not going for highlights.

Heikki Jussila
A tough submission wrestler from Finland Heikki Jussila had won bronze and silver medals in previous ADCC Trials but this year he was able to secure the gold through his superior wrestling.
North American ADCC 2021 Trials Winners:

Cole Abate
This was the youngest man to win the Trials and wants to become the youngest man to win the whole thing at just 16 years of age. From California, USA Cole Abate trains under the legends of the sport Gui and Rafa Mendes, representing the Art of Jiu-Jitsu team.
-77kg division:
Kade Routolo
At just 18 years old Ade Ruotolo is a Jiu-Jitsu beast that tore through the 77kg division. Training under none other than ADCC World Champion Andre Galvao, Kade is accustomed to the big stages and he has shown it in the North American Trials.
-88kg division
Giancarlo Bodoni
Born in Florida, the USA, this Black belt fought through one of the toughest divisions to become the champion and he also recently became the 2021 IBJJF Pan No-Gi Champion as well. So he is definitely someone to watch going into ADCC Worlds.
-99kg division
Mason Fowler
Mason Fowler had already won the North American trials in an impressive fashion in 2019. Now he has won the gold once again and is headed to the ADCC Worlds again looking better than before.

John Hansen
Went from becoming a meme in 2019 to winning in an incredible 26-second submission in the final. John Hansen is someone who we need to keep a very close eye on in this division.
