It sucks to be a beginner! This information is hardwired into our brains. It is an evolutionary trait that makes us look for progress in every aspect of life. Training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not much different. People walk in, and straight away they look at blue belts with jealousy. They do not look the same way at purple, brown and black belts though, because they seem to be too far away.
